I often ride at a trail in the Everglades... if you go at the right time, the wild alligators come out of the swamp to bask on the hot pavement.

It's funny. I grew up in Florida, lived there 23 years. I saw gators so often I lost that feeling of excitement. Now 6 years later living in Ohio I really miss the opportunities I used to have. Florida really is a herpers dream. Such awesome creatures all over. Thank you for the walk down memory lane!

I've been in FL for 14 years... still get excited each time I see a gator. It never gets old for me.

I'm from south Florida and now I live in North Carolina. Cherish every moment! I have to drive 3 hours towards the coast to be able to find the cool stuff, and maybe 1% the amount you find in florida. Herping is all I do when I go down there to visit friends and family. It's amazing what you can find even in the least likely places.

I miss it. But I've got a buddy that wants to see wild alligators and is going to drive and provide food for a weekend herping/backpacking trip to the coast soon. So hopefully ill get some good pics.

I have been in Fla for 22 years and still get just as excited as I did the first time I saw one in the wild. I used to have a 8 footer that lived in the canal right behind my house that would bask on the bank where we could see him.
