Ok.. Where to begin. Some of you will remember I got a pure "jampea" male a few months ago to breed to my female pure jamp in the future. Well, he was a pure kayuadi not a jamp (very similar looking, the islands they come from you can see one while on the other. And the scale count is the same as both are B. R. jampeanus). After I figured out he was a kaydu I started my search again(I sold the kayuadi to a freind after quarentine).

I found a 12 foot 25lb sometimes aggressive male, and an 8 foot 10lbs male that is clam. I whent with the the smaller male because he's more appropriately sized, as my female is on the smaller side considering her genetics(found out during my search she was produced by Jason gaspar, not Bob Clark who I got her from). After a long wait for better conditions I got him in last Tuesday.

I noticed after he was in his cage for a bit that he had some swollen scales. Turns out he has a 12 or so inch burn on his belly. I got ahold of the guy and told asked him about the burn. He told me he didn't know about the burn. The male had been in a friend of his possession for a couple days(he had mentioned this to me previously), and that's where this must have happend and he didn't notice bagging him up. I took him to my vet ASAP and he's now on anti biotics, and getting silver sulfadiazine on the wound. The seller has reimbursed me for vet bills more then what we agreed on, and has promised money back if he were to die(the burn doesnt seem that deep so be should be fine) so atleast hes trying to make things right.

So that's where I'm at; treating an unhappy(turned out to be 9' 15lbs) retic trying my hardest not to stress him. Wish him luck for a speedy recovery.

At least he is being a decent guy and has reimbursed you for the vet bills, hope everything turns out ok for you.

He should be fine. So glad to hear the seller is paying the vet bills. He should have noticed such a thing, but it guess it can happen. Good luck with your breeding plans, should produce some beautiful relics.

Darn it's never easy! It's good that the seller stepped up at least. Good luck with rehab!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I feel bad having to mess with him so much since he just got here. Considering the circumstances he's been a perfect snake about all the treatments. A little huffy and puffy but that's it. But it makes you a bit nervous around an unfamiliar snake that big and fast.

It's good to hear of a seller stepping up and helping out. Good luck with your new boy and keep us posted on how he's getting on :)

I hope he recovers soon, snakes can be such a tricky business at times.

Little update. The sulfadiazine has been working great, he just shed and the wound appears to be healing quicker then I expected. 2 more shots to go. Best of all he's been an absolute pleasure to work with. He's handled everything really well, glad he didn't make things harder then they had to be.

So glad to hear he is improving, and being a decent lad in the process! I can't wait to see pictures once he's all healed up and settled.

Will do. He's coming along nicley, it's not as bad of a burn as I had previously feared. I'm glad he's a good snake, I was expecting something unpredictable. He's got a good home for the rest of his life now. I tried snaping some pics of my other tics but I'm not happy with how they turned out. Just don't do them justice.

Well this close up of a kalatoa is pretty cool.

If only everyone on local classifieds were as decent as that guy. Glad to hear he should be alright. Post pics of the jamp, I'd love to see those beautiful silver eyes!

That's impressive Kyle. I haven't posted that pic on the nation, but its Aubrey Pruitt's halmahera(he's in nc and I saw him at the last show) so it's the snake that's familiar.

Update:

He's doing great. We're done with the antibiotic shots and still applying silver sulfadiazine once a day. The burn is no longer swollen or red. It's now what looks like a scab be oming a scar. He's still been a little puppy about the whole thing no signs of aggression at all. Still got several sheds to go through before its all gone but he's got nothing but time. Ill get pics up of him soon I just haven't wanted to put any extra stress on him.

Kyle completely disregard that. I had my threads mixed up and thought this was the thread with aubreys halmahera. That's my female kalatoa, no I haven't posted that pic on the nation. I did see a similar pic a little while ago though.

They're all camera hogs, I'm not too surprised. Mine always stick their faces in the lense.

Which thread was that supposed to be in? Doesn't really fit elsewhere.
