zilla jungle mix for pituophis

Hi fellow reptile lovers. I was wondering if anyone has used zilla jungle mix with a pine, bull or, gopher snake. I've tried cypress mulch which was a solid good in my opinion and I've tried eco earth, eco earth with repti bark, eco earth with repti bark and cypress mulch, and shredded aspen. I also tried sani chips which was awful for a bull. My snake likes shredded aspen the best of what I've tried but it's very dusty and messy and it can be hard to find his poop. I want to try jungle mix and see how that goes and I may end up going back to cypress mulch. I have'nt tried paper of any kind or carpet because these snakes are burrowers and i believe them not being able to burrow takes away some of their quality of life. Let me know what you all think. I think pits can do well on just about anything, so long as you are maintaining the proper temps and humidity. In the end, it's going to be down to user preference.

I have had the best luck with large chunk cypress mulch in all my snake enclosures. I currently use aspen for all my little guys but the cypress with everything else and they don't seem to have any issues burrowing in it.

I'm surprised he didn't like the sani chips. Don't have a pit but mine seem to like it.

Mine loves her reptibark. I recycle it by washing it with hot water in a colander. She burrows in it constantly. I have added a cube of eco earth to it as well.

Yes I know her water is empty but she fills it with dirt and dumps it daily.

With the sani chips he made huge mounds that made it difficult to open the drop down door and kept filling his water dish full of it. Pits are one of the few snakes that can dig their own burrows. Its fun to watch. They hook their heads like the letter j and rapidly jerk rearwards with sani chips flying everywhere. If they have a substrate that hold shape like shredded aspen they dont have the need to dig. Im interested the ratio of eco earth to reptibark you use for your pit. Thanks,
