Hey guys! My gf got me this subadult basilisk on Friday and I have a few questions.

First is exactly what species is it? She said when she went to the person's house, it was dark green, but it's always been this dull brown color. How long will it take to turn back to green? My last question, the guy said that for some reason it won't eat pinkies. How can I get it to? I fed it crickets yesterday, I also bought a bunch of super worms that I'll feed it today and later this week I'm gonna grab a bunch of Dubia roaches. Anything else I should add to its diet? Thanks guys. http://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t465/aw3s0m31/9B336F13-E900-400E-BC8A-D24C4E595FD4_zpshsmzvgkf.jpg (http://s1061.photobucket.com/user/aw3s0m31/media/9B336F13-E900-400E-BC8A-D24C4E595FD4_zpshsmzvgkf.jpg.html)

What you have looks to me like brown basilisk. You also probably try to stay away from feeding pinky mice I would just stick to crickets, superworms and whatever other invertebrates you are able to get your hands on.

That's what I was thinking too but my gf said that it was green when she picked it up from the guy. Plus all the pics I've seen of the brown show stripes going from the head to halfway down its body. This 1 only has them on its head. Either way, I still like it. I just wanna know exactly which 1 I have.

That's a brown basilisk, some have the stripes and some don't. Just like was said earlier, its not a big deal if he won't eat pinkies. Pinkies should only be given as a treat anyway. You are better off giving him the insects you mentioned. Variety is the best way to go.

Sweet. Thanks! So it's confirmed that its a brown but what still confuses me is that my gf said when she went to pick it up that it was dark green. Not as bright as the green basilisks but she said it was definitely a dark green. Do you think he'll change back to that?

Definitely a Brown Basilisk, also called the Common Basilisk. They can have greenish colors as well as brown.

As long as his enclosure is well set up, I wouldn't be surprised if he went back to a dark green color every now and again.
