I am wanting to see who owns these guys like me. I wanted to know your experiences with them? I am not finding a great deal of info on them when I search the web. Any way Hawk is probably my favorite snake I have ever owned so far and wish the Subocs would get a little more popular. 28209

no problem we are battling RI with him right now. I just got him this last weekend at the OKC Repticon. He is a little trooper.

I'm finding out that people really really like these guys. I have met a few people who say Subocs are their favorites. I do see why, this guy is really cool and has the funniest personality. You deffinitaly need to figure out a way to get one.

They are great little snakes. I used to have a Blonde Silver and a Blonde het Silver. I'm currently trying to convince the owner to sell them back to me. Their primary requirement is very low humidity.

I agree JW, but we had to do some serious budget and furniture rearranging to squeeze in that "one last snake" lol. It was going to be either a suboc or a taiwan, I found the taiwan first

yeah ill put some pictures up of his enclosure this evening. I made some modifications. I'm hoping it reduces the humidity a lot. He was kind of a surprise purchase, so I don't have a humidity gauge at the moment.

Wish it wasn't such a drive. I would take that lovely yellow rat off your hands so you would have room! :(

the yellow might actually be leaving tonight though. But it isn't going to free up any space :\

this is the mod I did to his enclosure. The mesh is pet screen from Home Depot, the kind you replace your screen door with when you have jumpy dogs. its easier to rub against than the wire screens they have. Its some kinda coated mesh stuff.

no nothing with the top do you think I should I am kinda nervous that it would lose some its strength at the top.

That would help,I would only worry if it knocked over its water dish.

Yeah he has a supper small water dish like the size of a mason jar lid. He still hasn't eaten for me though. I even tried the cut the pinks head open and he did not seem interested one bit. Temps are good running 80-85 hot side and a little warmer on the cool side about 73-80 cool depending on my houses temperature also. We are battling RI so that's the reason for the warmer temps and I know snakes generally won't eat when they have RI, it's just that he is still pretty active even with the RI. I just figured he would be able and want to down a small pink. I am more than likely being overly worried about the whole thing of him not eating. I just think he would show a little interest maybe.

Is he a Silver (axanthic)? My Blonde Silver only ever ate infrequently while my female who was the same age but Blonde het Silver ate like a champ and was 10X the size.

JW360

Yep he is a silver

He looks like he will be ok to miss a few meals . I know exactly how you feel though. I've got a couple snakes that go off feed for a while and I don't worry about it all. BUT, when I've got a new snake that hasn't eaten for me yet, I get nervous. I know that snakes can go a long time without food, but when its a new snake I always have to wonder how long its really been since its eaten.

Seriously, and it sucks cause the guy I got him from at the expo who got him from another person at an expo the weekend before. So I'm pretty positive its been two weeks of him not eating cause I have heard they usually don't feed their snakes when on the road. I'm just hoping he did though in the middle of the week sometime. Who knows? :\

Well Hawk is doing a lot better he was super active in his tub last night just cruising around and exploring. I decided to try and feed him again with no such luck. He did seem a little interested in it this time then decided to keep cruising. I think I'm going to try a live pink today if they have any at the local herp store. The RI seems to be clearing up so that's good.

He ate!!!!!!!! I got a live pink Wednesday and he finally ate it today. I just left it in his enclosure. What would you do? I am still supposed to give him his antibiotics, but as stubborn as he has been to eat I am feeling that I should let him be tonight. He has been doing a lot better with the RI.

I will have to let someone with more experience advise you on the treatment.
But congratulations on getting him to eat :]
