Tell me about green tree pythons..

What's general care for them? What temperatures do they like? Humidity levels?

I know they're more of an arboreal show snake and their tales are much more sensitive, especially in their younger years...

As long as you have a decently sealed enclosure to hold humidity well then they aren't that hard to look after.

Off top of my head cant remember temps but humidity cycles upto 90% dropping over time to 60% seemed to do well for my guy. I basically handled mine about ten times over three years but he was always out on display.

After doing a little more research it looks like I want an Aru. Anything special I should know about them? I have a good cage come from pvc plastics.

I think the humidity cycle and temps should be very important for gtps. I had one last time that passed away due to the dreaded respiratory infection. Aru locality seems to be an affordable and more tamed amongst the gtps. I have one Highland one that hisses when she feels your presence. And darts out to snap at you when you get too near to her. As lankyrob mentioned, no handling unless necessary, they are more of display snakes. I keep my gtp at around 25-31 Celsius. I also provide a basking spot should she wants to bask, but have never seen her done so

I keep my Jayapura around 80-82 ambient temp. But in summer itll creep up to about 85-86 during the day on the hot days. I keep humidity above 50% at all times Usually stays between 55%-65% on its own. I have a table-top waterfountain in his enclosure for running water and helpw with humidity. Sometimes humidity goes uo to over 75% on its own. I handle about 1 a week. Im fortunate, my gtp is the most mellow and predictable snake i own. He only eats about 6 months of the year cuz he automaticaly goes in breeding mode and wont eat when he's in the mood for a lady snake. Cage is 3.6'L x 2'H x 2'W. with removable perches and plenty of fake folliage

I have a 24x24x24 cage coming from PVC cages and I heard that is acceptable for a single adult GTP. Does that sound right? I'm looking for an ARU.

I know people that use that size but personally imwould want a 4x2x2

Many people keep their gtp's in 2x2x2's, but I feel it's too small. I'd go at least 3x2x2.

What is acceptable for any snake is a matter of opinion, because it's not like your snake is going to die just because it's cage is too small.

I agree with above comment of cage size, green tree is very active after light out, they move a lot as such a 2x2x2 is pretty small even for yearling, but every gtp keeper will have their own opinion and found a way work for them.
