Hi! So I thought I'd share the various reptile art I have done/am doing.
I did this of my veiled chameleon, Dingo, back in 2011, reference pic was of a photo I took of him:
https://scontent-a-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/t1/s720x720/45257_278908735576269_1400509069_n.jpg
This piece was done with prisma pencil crayons.
A shot of it out of frame:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/t1/215494_10150560781035403_1433571_n.jpg
My GTP, Envy, also from a photo I took of him:
https://scontent-a-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/t1/s720x720/17782_278874492246360_293382613_n.jpg
The prints of this as well as the cham turned out well:

This was free hand, trying out water colour:

These I started recently doing.
GHI Mojave BP
NO PAINT was used!!! this is all clay work!
https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/t1/q71/s720x720/1798422_432216946912113_1167838423_n.jpg
A few BRB babies:
https://scontent-a-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/t1/q71/s720x720/10001314_432221646911643_591630483_n.jpg
The one in the 'water' (cast resin) was the first sculpt I did, so his head is a bit goofy. The Mojave was the ssecond. With each sculpt I get better and better. (far right was #3, middle was #4)
A little boa inspired by my Zeus (albino columbian)
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/t1/q77/s720x720/10001285_432679636865844_1034714364_n.jpg
And another BRB done last night
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/t1/q77/s720x720/1920553_434075383392936_1057958186_n.jpg
Again, NO PAINT was used for any of the detailing! Only paint I used was a bit of black for the eye pupils, a bit of gloss to make the eyes shiny, and for the BRB's, a bit of glitter gloss varnish for that iridescent effect.
I plan on putting these in my etsy store, see if there's any interest for these, I plan on doing many more different morphs but specializing in rainbows (being my fav and all).
I am currently working on a larger piece, of a full scale panther cham. Wish me luck! I'll post progress pics if it's turning out ok. :P

Thanks! Yes I often sell prints (both prints of the cham and GTP are available) and I do take commissions sometimes, depending on what it is.
As far as drawings go, I'm only accepting water colour stuff in that splash style. My realistic style that the cham and GTP were done in, takes quite a while and most people aren't willing to pay the price I quote for that nor do most appreciate traditional style art. :P But if you're seriously interested in a realistic drawing, pm and we'll talk. :)

Gorgeous work! I love both the realistic style and the splash style. Your models look great also. I suspect that you could put come of them in cages and people wouldn't notice that they were not alive until they looked very closely.
Thanks for sharing.

I really should take pictures with proper lighting and not with a cell phone. :/ It really doesn't do them justice...
I got a spider cooling and a 'orange dream fire' cooking. Pics soon.

Nope! No paint! Just a little bit of clear varnish on the eyes

Nice to see some more clay artists! I find clay has a better look then paint in general, paint can look really messy. I've never tried paint on clay personally so I'm not sure if its easier or if it bleeds a lot like I think it does.

I dunno, I've painted on many types of mediums (I make costumes as well) and I've never had an issue with paint, just years of experience I guess so I know what works and what doesn't or little tricks. I just figure I would expand my experience with clay by not using any paint - certainly makes for a challenge when you're figuring out how to put which colours to make what patterns that will look good. Learning quick though!
And I have established that I really don't like making balls as much as I didn't like them to begin with. :P I don't get why bps are sooo popular - silly little fat sausages; I keep making them long and slender like my other boas. Guess that's something to learn and get better at. Maybe I don't like them cause they take up so much clay? idk. In any case, here's an orange dream fire (L) and dream spider (R)
Forgot to put heat pits in the fire, pretty angry about that... Oh well..

I'll be throwing these up on etsy in the next day or so if anyone's interested!

I haven't baked it yet, still humming and hawing about the portions. Panther heads confuse me (doesn't help I don't own a panther, yet next week!) so I tried by best off using photos. I have since fixed the lips a bit and the left arm since the photos. I'll probably bake it later today, I've very eager to paint it!
They are all amazing but that free hand water color is outstanding! I'd love to see one of a GTP!

Thanks! I plan to do more free hand watercolours, I have quite a few herps in mind with a slightly different style I'd like to try out.
On the left, baked and primed with white. On the right, started painting. Though I wasn't liking the quality of my paint job (near the blues) so I went over it with the white primer again and started over. Looking much better.

Was gonna edit the above post with an update so I'm not doing so much double posting, but guess I can't, so oh well:
This is as far as I got with the paint tonight. Just some more left to do with the yellows/oranges/reds before I can add in the blue to really make it pop! Then any lowlights to really give it some depth. Excited to finish this!!

Hey guys, I've started a new project involving herps.
One of my first, if not my actual first time putting in a full background for a realistic drawing. Snake is a BRB (of course) which will be done in pencil crayon, and the background is being done in watercolour. It'll be interesting when it's done as pencil is my strong suit and watercolour is the far opposite.
Farthest right of the snake, the dark area, is mostly done, as far as the watercolour goes. Once all of the trunk is done, I'll go back in to touch up with pencil, pencil crayon, and/or ink.
Being done on sandstone mat board.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/t1.0-9/q73/s720x720/10325622_471251949675279_7886735918173085609_n.jpg
And more progress done tonight
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/t1.0-9/q74/s720x720/1384105_471395292994278_21901197782451415_n.jpg
Trunk base maybe 90% done before I can go in with the touch ups to crisp things up.

Beautiful artwork- you definitely have a talent!
I like that you're combining pencil with watercolor- that's my favorite modus operandi for snake pictures! I like to use the colored watercolor pencils with pen and ink detail, then do a watercolor wash background. It really helps the snake pop and lets it fill up a frame nicely.
I'll post a thread of some of my work, maybe we can give each other inspiration! I sadly don't have much time to draw/paint/sculpt lately due to multiple jobs and a huge viper collection to care for!

Thank you. :) I love trying new things, so all this acrylic and sculpting is new to me. These last 3 painting pieces is only my 2-4 times painting on canvas (first time was back in high school).
I wouldn't be selling the original piece of my brb, that I'm keeping for myself, but the prints I'll be selling I'm thinking I'll have around the $70 mark (not including shipping).
I have a tendency to undersell myself (apparently) so I hope at this price people will see to be reasonable. It'll be the same size as the original as well and printed on a cardstock so it's heavier.
Going to do a test print tomorrow actually and see how the resolution turns out. It's too big for my scanner so I had to borrow the bf's camera to take a pic. I just hope the resolution will be high enough so that the prints turn out to be high quality and capture all the detail I put into it.

Prints of my BRB will be ready tomorrow, I'm excited! I'll post a pic of them tmrw. Small test print looked real promising. Getting prints made are always worrisome because it's hard getting the print to as close as the original.
For those curious, the next few paintings I have lined up will be: (that will also be sold at the expo, but available to buy at any time they're done....!!)
