View Full Version : New retic
Picked up a new platinum retic today! Had him on hold and picked him up this morning at the Cleveland expo. Was worried cause we were supposed to get slammed with snow, but it stayed mostly South. He'sa year old, 50% jamp. Great colors already. I've been looking for one of these for a while. He's acclimating to his new home now. I'll offer him some food later this week, the a few days after I'llget him out for a few photos.
Congratulations on the new addition! I hope he settles well, and I can't wait for pictures!

Congrats man. Can't wait for pics. I love plattys, and everything jamp. Expect a killer feed response.

^^^^^^^^^^Ditto! :)
Thanks everyone. I'm super excited. He's not much longer than my 50% sd tiger but he's a lot heavier. His muscle mass is crazy. I can't wait to get him out and under lights to see his true color.

The jamp influence is incredible, there's no doubt on his lineage. He's gourgous.

How can you tell? I hear this said a lot with localities and I just don't have the experience with retics to know what to look for.

It's a little hard to explain in text. The neck pattern and the saddles(jamps have one scale wide black outlining around the saddles) are how I can tell. After youve seen thousands of pics of pure locales you start picking up on it, and talking with alot if the best retic breeders(Travis kubes in peticular has been very helpful) has helped a lot. I dont claim to be an expert on it, im best with jamps as they are my favorites. The harder ones of the dwarf locales are some kayaudis look very similar to jamps(you can see kayuadi from tanahjampea). And madus and kalatoas look very similar, with kalatoas having more reds as opposed to the yellows in madus.
If kyle(millertime89) gets on soon I'm sure he'll have something to add on the subject. He's rather knowledgable, had more time with the big breeders, and been at the retic longer then I have.
Congrats! He looks cool, can't wait to see more pics.

Sublime hit the nail on the head. Gorgeous little platty with obvious jamp lineage.
