Maybe I'm weird and this is some display of a deeper issue but I keep good sheds. I was also thinking about trying to find a nice big shed from a burm or retic to use as a wall decoration.

i did at first...but now the only 1 i have currently is my CRB's first complete shed...she was in bad shape when we got her and took till her 3rd shed with us to be complete..so it is hanging in my entryway for anyone who stops by to see :D

I used to as well but once I realized I had a enough shed to make a canoe I decided it was time to toss them.

LOL. I figure when my snake stops growing so dramatically it won't be as interesting.

I wish i still had most of my old collection :D love to collect them. Sadly my retics always took a cr*p in their shed.. Never had nice big ones ..

I even have one i turned back right way out! which is not easy to do but a lot more colors show that way.

You're right that the inside is more dramatic! I cut this one open to show the colors.

OP, I keep them and make them into accessories and crafts. I'm going to try some jewelry with this one. It's 70 inches, and she is about 60. I will probably save one to display when she is bigger. I did keep her first couple though. The rest get cut up and turned into things.

The only ones i've kept in the past have been my babies sheds....Don't know why, but i was keeping the first 3 or 4 sheds of each baby i produced....I'll probably do the same when this season's litters are born:D

I used to keep them, I am kind of a germ freak though and they sometimes gross me out so I always end up throwing them away. Plus my snakes like to go to the bathroom while they are shedding so most of the time they end up being filled with feces. Which does make it easier to clean up because it is inside the shed.. but it's also extremely disgusting at the same time lol.

we keep the first complete shed of every one of our snakes. we "laminate" them with clear packing tape.

I have two - the first and second shed. Probably won't keep any more, but these two were just so perfect. I can always look at them in the future and see how small the snake used to be.

Thanks for all the fun responses. I'll have to try cutting one open some time to see what it looks like.

I'm surprised so many people keep their sheds. I had never thought about it until reading this thread. I learn something new every day :)

I keep complete sheds, and sometimes give them to friends. I have a really nice complete Batwing shed and my male Gabby is in the blue so I will definitely keep his shed. I never thought to cut them open to look at the inside- I like that idea and will definitely try it!

I used to keep sheds when I was younger but now I just give them away to my friend's younger siblings.
