Hi Everyone,

I am taking delivery of a new 6ft x 2ft x 2ft viv on Monday for ‘Mitch’. Its wooden glass fronted with three rear vents close to the base and it will be double sealed all-round with rep safe sealant. His current housing which is 4ft x 2ft x 2ft uses a 150w ceramic and temps are maintained pretty well.

Will a 250w ceramic heat his new enclosure sufficiently or should I be looking to alternative heat sources like panels, AHS heaters, or combine two heat sources? Any tips would be great, thanks.

I have a 8'x3'x2' wood enclosure for my burm and 1 250w CHE and 1 100w bulb on a thermostat keeps it 90-91 hot side 80-81 cool side so you will probably be ok.

My Bci is in a 6x2x2 and I use a 250w che and it works fine. You could honestly get away with a 150w but I like to go big so it's not working as hard.

Thanks :)

I thought it would be ok but worth an ask before I get the kit. The last thing I want to do is start messing around with it once I fitted it out (been there and done that )

As already said I would stick with the 250 ceramic, AHS heaters are great for ambient temperature but don't create a hot spot :)
