View Full Version : Shedding & Water
Hi Guys,
My Dwarf Retic has been on his first shed cycle since I've had him. About five days ago he was curled up in the water bowl (most of it had been pushed out soaking the viv!). I got him a large tub like a washing up bowl and he is happy in that.
Is it ok for them to be spending most of the day in it? The viv temps are bang on, is this just a shedding thing that some retics do? The humidity is good too?

I think that is fine. Just keep an eye out as soaking sometimes means mites

No can't see any signs of mites, eyes, mouth and water is clear.

What's the humidity like? What heat source are you using?
Maybe he just likes to soak

Using a 150w ceramic, hot end is 92f and cool 80f, humidity at the cool end is 60 but I mist it up to 80 then it drops. His water bowl is at the cooler end, do you think I should move it up to the centre if he likes to soak?

Maybe he's trying to cool off, just getting ready to shed, just likes to soak...etc.
I'd just let him be and not worry about it unless you see problems. Or maybe add another water bowl in the middle/hotside to see if it's a temperature issue.

Think he's about to shed, big yawns and starting to rub the side of his mouth / head
