I have a project I have to do for a class called Data Management... it's worth 30% of my mark (and my exam is still worth 30% too  ) and here are the outlines so far:
Select a subject that is of interest to you, and that contains data.
Helpful, eh? So anyway, I wanted to do something along the lines of animals/reptiles, etc... something where I don't fall asleep while researching! I'm going to have to graph the data and calculate crap, so I think it'd be better to have something to do with money... My only idea so far is to select a zoo and compare the rate of income over the past however many years. (This doesn't REALLY have anything to do with animals, since I could do the same thing with any business, which is why I'm looking for more ideas.
Any help / suggestions would be SO greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Kate

Growth of animal populations in captivity - population increase
Where some species' numbers would be without zoos or conservation programs...see I helped!
NO NO! wait! I just watched a cool croc hunter....You could research all of the farrel (pharrel?) animals in AUSTRALIA and how they're screwing up things :D:D I AM SO GREAT! It's good! really! like the evil bunnies, rat, pigs, and camels even though the camels are ok guys once you get to know 'em.
:D fine I'll get another face - :medpuke:

Nope it's not an answer, because I don't have the data to calculate... I have to find a subject to find data on to be able to use the data in my calculations..

How about trying to keep a ledger for feeding/shedding/breeding/growth for one of your herps?

I like the idea, but I don't think I'd have enough information because I won't have had it for a year by the time the project is due... Maybe I'll get the info from someone else's though!! Thanks for the idea
Yea I like the ferrel one too... I'll do some research and see what type of info is available, as well as on Chris's idea too
Thanks guys!
:D

If you want... I can lend you a small fast growing species of tarantula.
I have a small versicolor that is growing like a bad weed that would surely molt for you about once a month if you keep it warm and fed well.
Just an idea

Wow that would be so awesome! I really really appreciate the offer, but unfortunately I think I need the information sooner than it would be able to provide... I'll talk to my teacher about it though, and if he gives me the go ahead I'll let you know! Thanks Chris!!

YAAAARG! lol too long....

I'm sure you could find some type of growth cart data on the net somewhere even if you didn't do the actual growing of the animal, If you did the one on farrel animals would you go count them? just a thought

Hey Kate,
Why not look at number of animals produced and amount it costs to raise them to a sellable size and how much it costs to feed the adults etc.
A friend of mine working in computer programming wrote a data base for me so that I could keep track of egg production/sales/hatch rates/housing costs/feeding costs.
Its a great little program.
Maybe you can work this into something???
Just a thought...
Matt.
he sould market that program
