Nice boa, are you using repti carpet?

I have a little bit of repti carpet in her enclosure and that is just in her feeding bin.

What is her set up? Why do you have a "little bit" in her enclosure? What is the rest?

Also, why do you feed in a feeding tub? Please don't tell me that it's due to her becoming "cage aggressive" if you feed in her enclosure. It is a myth and I am tired of dispelling it.

I don't remember the original reason for putting it in her enclosure, just never took it out. It's now buried in aspen bedding that I have in there.

When I first got her that was why I fed her in a tub, until I read otherwise. Now I do it because I take that time to do a deeper clean on her cage without her being bothered.

*Pokes Aaron with a stick*

Come on Aaron, everyone knows that feeding snakes in a separate tube makes them docile. :)

These two statements contradict one another.

How is it still buried if you do a deep clean? Repti-carpet is a bacterial farm and indicated by you it's been left in there for a long time (uncleaned) so I bet it's gross.

I'd ditch the repti-carpet as well!

But you're still bothering her by taking her out to feed her....I'm sure she'll do fine if you take her out and handle her when you deep clean. I do that. If I plan on taking my boa out for an extended amount of time and he needs a deep clean, I take him out. It's just the same as handling except I'm also cleaning.

+1. Instead of taking him out once a week or so during feeding, it would be less stressful to just take him out when you do decide to deep clean.

One reason why it's hard to keep repti-carpet sanitary is because it's re-useable substrate. It'd be more efficient to just spot clean(throw away dirty) loose substrate or replace paper substrate when soiled.
