My super dwarf reticulated python is 1 yr old! We got this guy last July, and he's growing like crazy! This is when we first got him-he's about 5months old here

And here he is a few weeks ago. We hope he is a true super dwarf--hes already close if not all of 5ft long at 1yr old. [sorry the pic is sideways, I cant get it to go vertical]

Well he's got dwarf blood in him for sure(looks like a madu, or maybe a kayuadi. A little bright for a kalatoa), couldn't tell you if he's pure though. kyle(millertime89) might be able to tell you he's seen a lot more of them then I have. 5 feet does seem a little big for a year. My female pure kalatoa is over 3 feet and 8 months old, and my pure jamp female was under 5ft at a year.
Who produced him? I've got a pair of kalatoas from Travis kubes and they are just awesome animals(still like my jamp more tho).
What's his feed response like(I get mixed answers with pure sd)?

we got him from the reptile show in St. Louis, missouri. Not sure who the seller was though.

his feeding response is crazy, but he's never struck at me or my boyfriend.

sounds risky buying a sd from an unknown seller! but hopefully some more experienced people will chime in.

Did they say a locality like any of the ones I listed? What kind of feeding schedule do you have him on?

No, not that i'm aware of..
and he eats every 6-8 days, has never refused a meal!
crum222 should be joining this thread soon, he may have more answers in regards to locality

Idk he seems to be a bit big to be pure(unless they gave you a wrong age). Travis kubes told me his male pure kalatoas typically dont get bigger then 6 feet. My female kalatoa is on a 5-7 day feeding schedule with meals at 20-25% body weight. She's not nearly that big; a little over 3 feet and under 200 grams empty.
But he definitely got some dwarf in him, so he's not going to be a monster either way.

Yeah I can't remember who the breeder was. But I'm happy we got him either way. He's an awesome snake. One I've wanted for awhile now.

For what it is worth, a bit over a year ago a friend gave me his SD retic that he got at a St. Louis show without much info about the animal. I started a thread a while back and millertime (and others) did think it was 50% SD. It looks a lot like yours and now at just about three years of age it is 8 feet. I feed it one every 10 to 14 days. Check out the thread and let me know what you think; probably not a year old yet. Mine grew very rapidly it's first two years. Great snakes, I certainly love mine.

theweinz, my boyfriend and I checked out your thread you mentioned. As long as he is some type of dwarf we'll be okay---no room for a 20ft snake! Ours is also a very curious and intelligent snake. glad to have him even if he turns out to not be a SD!

Fear not he's got dwarf blood for sure.

Definitely dwarf blood but the color and his size indicate he's not pure sd. The neck pattern tells me there is at least some SD blood though. Without knowing who produced him I can't give you much more than that since I don't know anybody that normally goes to the St. Louis show. Would love to see more pics of him on a neutral backdrop like some white construction paper.

I'm in love with his pattern/colors--he was extra colorful a few days ago with that iridescence

He does look pretty kayuadi-ish to me. Either way he's gourgous. Did you get any info on his parents?

No info on parents, can't find the breeder info from the show. So he's going to be a nice surprise lol.
