Question!

I have a question for all of the Corn snake owners.
My yearling female amel corn snake is pushing 320 grams, how much did your yearling corns weigh? I know all snakes grow differently and that I won't get a very accurate answer because of that, but does 320 grams seem a bit larger than most yearling corns or is it a good size? I looked it up online and didn't find much but with the photos I did find they were all much smaller than my girl and some were even older than her.

Any input is appreciated. :)

Does look quite large in your hand there! I only have a rat snake and shes about 5/6 month but much tinier than that! Not managed to weigh her yet though, maybe i should :)

I have awkwardly small hands so she seems a lot bigger than she actually is. In person she is still quite small but I feel that she is bigger than most corns around her age.. I don't even have her on a set feeding schedule and she isn't being over fed so I'm wondering if she is just going to be a very large girl. I kind of hope so :)

Your rat snake is so cute.. I really want to get a rat snake some day.

Lol, im still suprised when i see her stretched out at actually how long she is! Around 25 inch at the minute just wouldnt think when shes curled up shes secretly nearly as long as my leg :-P haa.. yours has really Lovely vibrant colours :-) cant wait 2 get mine on the scales though later!

A female corn needs to two of these three things to breed. 300g to, 3' or three years old. That weight at that age seems way to big. Are you sure of her age?

Well I didn't produce her but when I got her she was so tiny and looked like a baby.. The guy I got her from didn't want her anymore because she is kind of aggressive but he works with snakes and breeds them and he was positive that she was still a baby at the time. Who knows though.. Maybe he was wrong? :confused:

That does seem quite heavy for a yearling! Most don't gain that kind of weight until they are 2 plus years old. Usually they gain nearly all of it in length the first year or so, rather than weight. But she does not appear fat to me from the pictures either. You might be right, maybe she is just going to be an especially large snake.

I think mine were all around 150 to 200 or so grams at the yearling stage, if I'm remembering right.
