ok, well, we had no plans of another GTP purchase...BUT...Ben Siegel had a Biak neo up for auction, and hubby bought it for me for valentines...SO...we have at least a 10 days to 2 weeks (or more) for the weather to cooperate for shipping to make SURE that we have an ideal setup...we already have the components, just need to set it up and get it running...this one is 5 months old, and already much larger than the last disaster...20" long and feeding great!

thanks! I have heard great things about Ben...been watching his auctions and reviews for quite some time now...never a negative word...especially on the green trees...so I am hoping for a better outcome!

I follow his auctions every day. I am extremely pleased with the red tail boa and Brazilian rainbow I received from him.
He will not send out an animal that is not established and eating well.
I placed a deposit on a monitor recently and he won't send it until it is eating aggressively and more established.
Best of luck.

thank you! that makes me feel even better about this! going with a bit bigger tub this time to accomodate the RHP, but going to make sure there is enough cover so that size won't be an issue...like I said, lots of time yet to dial in everything...the weather is just toooo cold to ship...he requires a minimum of 35 night time temps to ship...and we haven't gotten above 12 in weeks...but "it" is paid for, so its mine! and we are keeping the name "Absolem" because we just LOVE that name! :D

You can just tell the difference in robustness from this GTP baby to the one you had previously. This one looks much fuller and stronger.
Great find.

yup. you can wait up to 2 weeks, unless temps are too cold then they will certainly wait longer. His packaging is very good as well.
PS those biaks are feisty.
Stunning baby! I can't wait to see more pictures when (s)he arrives!

thanks everyone! ok, I will update the signature...I need to anyway, since I acquired another T since then (thanks keltzerman) and I also ordered a leopard gecko for the hubby for v-day since he can't stop staring at them at the pet shop when we go..(Ben had them for $19, and since I am paying for shipping anyway, why not?)

Exactly why I went ahead and got my rtb at the same time as the rainbow. Shipping gave me an added excuse to do it at the same time.

I still have time to add more if I want...I know hubby really wants a mexican fire leg tarantula...may email them to see if they have any in stock and prices...I now have 2 rose hairs, 1 adult female, and 1 juvenile...both awesome! can be tempermental, but I have become a pretty good judge of when to reach in, and when to scoot them to the other side of their enclosure for water changes, etc...LOL

misrepresented...was 7 months and the size of a hatchling..had issues I wasn't comfortable with...was told it was feeding well, yet hadn't eaten in a month before i got it, and went almost 2 weeks without eating for me...so i got a refund...

Yeah, looks soooo much better! Much larger than the other! Loving the markings as well! I don't even care what adult colors he ends up with, I just love the species, period...so beautiful!

here is what i have set up for the new "Absolem"...19x12x12, 40w RHP, themostat set at 85f, temps gradient from 86 to 75, humidty at 85% and climbing slowly (air stone in a water dish) a 2nd water dish for drinking that is shallow but bigger surface area, lots of cover, ladder style perches for his choosing...anything i am missing? oh, there is another plant at the very top of the ladder, but the suction cup keeps falling off, may have to hot glue it or something...

Setup looks really good. Really like the diagonal climbing spaceOnly thing I would change is the humidity. GTP's don't need constantly high humidity. Maybe a humidity spike in the morning but I usually keep mine around 60-70% without issues.
I'm not saying high humidity is going to hurt your animal but bacteria/fungi will grow faster at those levels.

I am going to put the air stone on a timer...have it run a bit in the mornings and evenings...kinda trial and error right now, glad i have some time to iron everything out before he gets here :D

To be honest I don't even think you will need an air stone lol. Tubs/plastic caging are very good at maintaining humidity.
I haven't misted my tubs for a few weeks now... the humidity is at a constant 60%. Just from a small water bowl in the corner.

i set it up for the air stone mostly because once warmer weather breaks, we go camping quite a bit...i would like the setup there so that i don't have to worry about misting if we are gone for 2 or 3 days....

I'm Don. But definitely message him. I'd imagine he does have more, but they're not nearly as good at replying to comments. GBBs usually retail for around $40 at that size.

Yeah I was going to say I know where you can find them at good prices, but with shipping it makes much more sense to get one with your current order lol.

exactly...i'm sure i could get one at the expo next weekend, but not sure if we are going or not...it will be a "morning of" decision, due to weather, etc, since it is a very long drive...hate to pass on the opportunity...

Thanks! without using the air stone the humidity is holding about 57% with no misting. So humidity shouldn't be hard to attain.
Wow, nice looking little one! Good luck, bet you are exited.

thanks, Larry! yes, I am not a real patient person when it comes to waiting for something to arrive...LOL...I check the weather a few times a day to see if the forecast has changed and we may get a "warm spell" for a day or two...the way I look at it, the longer it takes for him to get here, the more meals he has in him, and the bigger he will be...Ben assures me it is no problem for him to wait there as long as need be...I have some things to pick up for other "new guy" anyway...there is also a leopard gecko coming in the package...the enclosure is set up with heat, but no furnishings yet...
