Perlite? Vermiculite? HatchRite? Superhatch?
What says the collective?

Depends on the species really. Some do good in a SIM type setup with only water. Some of the gecko species I've seen have to be incubated on perlite/vermiculate, and then the egg sitting on a dish filled with sand above that. Hatchrite/Superhatch....I'm pretty sure they are just a mix of the regular stuff and a label on it.
Go to homedepot and get a gigantic bag of perlite and use that for years to come. Pretty sure Perlite is the most commonly / widely accepted across the board.

ya it really depends on what your breeding, for my corns and BP's I use either hatchrite or a mixture of perlite and vermiculite, for my Cresties I used a mixture of perlite, vermiculite and peat moss!!
Carpet python....
edit.....I am hopeful she is actually pregnant. She locked with my diamond about 2 1/2 wks ago...it appears there may be some girth changes and she is laying in wide concentric coils. Having said this, I'm not sure really how long it should take before I really see obvious signs of pregnancy (I check on her prob 3-4 times a day, so I may not be the most objective at this point)....so, this whole thread may be for naught if she really is not preggo. Just tying to be proactive.

If she's pregnant it will be blatantly obvious in time both behaviorally and visually. You wanna try not to bother her though, no matter how many times you check, she's not going to become any more or less pregnant haha
I can't comment on the best medium for morelia though. Grab an ultrasound machine and look for whatever doctors look for ...follicles? lol
Trust me ...I have hit up anyone I know in radiology to see if I could borrow a portable US or bring the snake in and "quietly" scan. I have been rebuffed at every turn. So much for collegial associations :/
I'll continue to have my ducks in a row and monitor her, I'll be ready :)
