Is there a particular brand of heat mats are preferred? I assume it doesn't matter with a thermostat, but if there are any that are recommended over others let me know.
That being said, what are some good, reasonably priced thermostat companies?
Thanks

Good thermostat companies - herpstat, vivarium electronics, helix
Those are expensive but in my opinion, reasonably priced for their quality.
Other than that the cheaper ones are on/off thermostats and still work well
- hydrofarm,ranco, big apple herp, zilla...etc

I like ultratherm heat mats. They don't get so hot even on full power(I still use a thermostat for each one) and they last pretty long.
They are also very thin and lightweight.

I like the ultratherm heatpad as well. I have it on a stat, and its almost always on 100% power and it only gets to like 104-105 degrees when I check it with my heatgun (I think, can't remember, but its not hot is my point).
I have a herpstat and a hygrofarm. I like both. Recently my probe on the herpstat shorted and I lost the heat on my 2300$ pair of geckos...so now Im using the hygrofarm stat on them. I wouldn't use it with my most expensive species if I didn't trust it ;)

Same here, the ultratherm mat heat is so gentle it's usually on 90-100% power. And that's just enough to get the desired hotspot.
