I'm taking these in a "mini studio" box... and currently the light I am using is quite dull.(One compact flourescent bulb) Are there any good lights you would recommend for a studio type setting? I do however like the flourescents(The color tone it gives off), I just need something brighter or stronger.

Thanks. The one your picking up from Tim is going to be a stunner as well. Did he show you pics of the parents? They're bright highlighter yellow.

He did, the pic has both of them in it and you can hardly tell them apart! Friday night we're picking her up, can't wait. Hoping she'll get the bright yellows like her parents.

Wow!! That is a stunner right there, I absolutely love the photos and snake. Not sure what I would want more, the snake or the lens! LOL

Wish I could help re: lighting but I'm completely clueless. I think you're doing a really fantastic job with the photography already, but I know good lighting can always make a huge difference.

I'd take the snake anyday! Or maybe not....

Yeah the camera is good, but I just need some strong lights to fill whatever subject I'm shooting.

@kwhitlock Go for it man. Always love to see someone take their first dive into the world of Morelia Spilota.

Such a great species of snake to work with, and also very easy to care for. Little effort and lots of reward is what you get with carpets.

Just buy higher wattage full spectrum compact flouros on ebay mate if you prefer to use continous lighting. As long as they're full spectrum it'll solve your lighting issues.

Is there anything I can use with them to get a more "filling" light? IE. reflectors, or domes, hoods...etc anything I should know?

If you just want fill lights then yes small reflectors will do the trick. If your clever with your angles you can use compact mirrors to introduce highlights to where ever you want them. Angle of incidence equals angle of reflection.

I think summer, is a possibility. Gives me time to get all the info I need and get a good enclosure. I love the bright yellow with black contrasts, very much so like yours. I've also heard they are quite the active little buggers!

Thanks all! This one comes out of Will Bird's "red clutch" where some of the jungles start out red as a baby and turn black and yellow as they age.

Here's another one I got from Will Bird a couple months back, pretty amazing to see the changes as they grow older. When I first got this guy he was pretty drab and brown. Nice to see him coloring up.

Beautiful snake! As much as I like the good yellows in Carpets, I really like it when they have a lot of dark black in their pattern. They look so wicked with all that black and just a bit of bright yellow here and there.

That's exactly what I'm for as well. Having more black just accentuates the yellow that much more.
