New Snake Thursday!!

Hi All,
I'm super happy today. I received my new albino bull snake today. She is one pretty girl, but she does have a bit of an attitude. She hissed at me when I first took her out :). She's getting settled into her new home and I plan on feeding her Saturday when the other snakes eat. She's about 15 in long and weighs 45g. I'll keep her on paper towels for a few weeks but I don't foresee any problems with her. I've decided to name her She-Ra, after the female character on Masters of the Universe :). I got her from Jason Nelson at Envy Reptiles who was great to work with. I would highly recommend him.

I wish you all the best at Repticon Frog. I went to the one in Atlanta last weekend and saw mostly ball pythons, a few boas, and a few hognoses. After I couldn't find what I wanted at Repticon I decided to go with a reputable private breeder. I paid a little bit more but couldn't be happier.

Thanks Revent. My girlfriend actually came up with the name. I was going to name her Trinity because she's my 3rd snake but after she suggested She-Ra, the Princess of Power, I had to roll with it ;).

My girlfriend decided she wants to go to the expo down in Portland Saturday. I really wanna get a jag carpet male from inland reptiles there and every time I go nick is always pushing one on me but the girlfriend who isn't there always says no. This time she's going to have to look the cute snake in the face and say no if she still says no. So I was kinda thinking on the name He-Man for him since I don't think she will be able to say no in person. muahahahaha

Very nice! I love JCP's. The high yellow or high black ones are super stunning. I was going to make one my next addition but I just love the easy care requirements with colubrids.

Not right now Poom. I need to take some more pictures of her. She's a really beautiful snake. I think we both got our bulls from Jason. I'm feeding the critters tonight and cleaning cages on Sunday. I'll try to get some pics then. How's yours settling in?

I wish! I think I'm going to upgrade my a couple of my current enclosures before I get my next snake. Steve (Sharthun) has me wanting those AP T-10's pretty bad :)

Yeah my girl is still pretty shy too except when it comes to eating :). She's getting better with handling. How much does your bull weigh? How much/often do you feed her? Post some pics when you can.

I've only had her just over a week. I waited a week after I got her before feeding her (as per jason's suggestion, GREAT guy to deal with in case anyone doesn't know) I plan to feed her every 5 days until she gets older.
Right now she is 41 grams and was born late august 2013

Our other pit is Chingachgook, a NJ pine barrens Northern Pine we got from Sam and Maegan Day. I cannot say enough good things about them either. He was born July 9, 2013, we got him on jan 14, he regurged his first meal, we gave him two weeks to recover, then fed him once a week for 4 weeks, he's now getting switched to every 5 days as well. He's due to be weighed, last time we weighed him was january 22, I would like to weigh him every month, but this months weigh in fell on the day after a feeding , and I'm trying to get all the snakes on the same weigh in day, so I'm just going to start weighing them all on the 1st of the month. I'm curious to see what he is now, on january 22 he was 95 grams
so far no hissing or striking, he tries to get away when you pick him up, but is fine once you are holding him

Nice pits Poom. I bet your bull is going to grow pretty fast. I weighed my girl last night before feeding and she was 118g. She was about 45g when I got her (6) weeks ago. She's a Sep. 2013 hatchling. She's almost as big as my yearling kings which are 185g and 168g.
