Hello,

I recently built a rack/shelf that is outlined in the thread "Am I on the right track" in the general enclosure forum on page 3 if you are interested in more info.

What I would like to know is what you experienced carpet keepers think about my 2 tubs I set up with some perches which I plan to put a 9 month or so old IJ Jag and/or a 5 month or so old JCP in (JCP is really tiny, store has him in a 6 qt tub and IJ Jag is in a 15 qt tub). I will of course add some leaves and substrate to pretty them up but what are you opinions on the perches?

Thanks for any opinions/ advice!
Brett

The tall tub is a 25 qt sterilite and the lower one is a 15 qt sterilite.

I should add that these of course are shorter term homes, once they out grow them they will be moved into larger enclosures I have which can be seen in my enclosure thread I listed above.

As long as there is room to have two hides and a water bowl on the floor they look fine to me.

Looks good, as long as you can provide the things that Donnie mentioned.

they look fine, but it seems as though on the lower tubs there would be room for them to escape out the top?
I may be a little gun shy as my carpet got out last week from what i thought was a secure tub, but maybe i just can't see it clearly from your pictures?

Sorry I should have mentioned I'm using lids on these that snap shut on both ends and will use binder clips on the sides for added security.

As far as hides go i will have one on the hot side and one on the cool with a water dish in the middle.

Thanks for the replies!

Looks good to me Brett. When my Carpets were younger and much smaller, I kept them in 104qrt Sterilite (lock top) tubs that I found at walmart. They seemed to thrive in them very well. Though it did not take long to out grow them lol.

Cheers,
Jonathan

Well I picked up the Irian Jaya Jag on saturday and found out she was larger than I thought so only used the 25qt tub for 24hrs until I made a 64qt tub for her which im sure she will outgrow soon but atleast I have bigger enclosures waiting. Anyway here are the only 2 decent pictures I snapped of her in the 25qt which she is now out of. Like always cell phone pics are not the best but she is beautiful.

She was also making a fair bit of noise when I had to move her into the bigger tub and struck once but that was it. I didn't want to have to move her and stress her out but she will have a few weeks of no contact now to adjust.

Hahaha that's what I figured. I can't wait till she's had a few meals so I can work on handling which should be interesting and fun! :D

Just thought I'd give an update on "Hissy" who no longer gets worked up when I take her out. She struck at my face the first real time I handled her but has since calmed down and is a pleasure to handle. She is much more active than my boa when out that's for sure! The bottom tub is empty and used as my control tub for the thermostat.

as long as it's NOT a nervous feeding hatchling.....

you can put them straight into 4x2x2ft tanks without issues mate

just make sure there's plenty, hides, branches and fake plants

good looking Carpets you have there

cheers shaun

Thanks for the tip shaunyboy, she has only had 3 meals with me so far but certainly isn't nervous as she strikes fast and constricts her f/t rat as if it owes her money haha. I will keep her in this setup for a bit longer as I don't want too much going on in such a short time with her but after this I will likely go straight to a 4x2x2 PVC enclosure.

How did I miss this thread? I am gonna do a carpet/tub video soon. I want to make 2 identical tubs for young carpets. If you can go 4x2x2 now....go for it :)
