Rotting regurgitated rats that I happened to miss, yellow anaconda poop, and a poor spiny tailed iguana at Petsmart that I wanted to look at because he was in terrible health. He bit my knuckle and his lower jaw broke in half, there were what appeared to be some sort of larvae/maggot looking things in it and the smell was incerdibly retched. I nearly threw up, and I've got cast iron stomach.

My almost 8' female JCP dropped about a liter of liquid poop onto the middle of my living room floor. It was so rancid I nearly dropped her. Had to open all the windows and clean it with bleech. Horrible horrible horrible.

My king snake went to the bathroom right over where his heat pad is under his tank and it made my room smell like cooked snake feces... I was gagging like crazy. This is probably so mild though compared to the people with big snakes. I feel so bad for the people that have to clean up after boas or large pythons *shutters* :no:

My girlfriend wanted to add hers. She caught her first unassisted wild snake a few months back when we went to the mountains to go herping. It was a 3-3.5 foot northern water snake that let out a huge amount of musk to give her a proper introduction to the world of catching wild snakes. She complained about the smell for the next several hours we were hiking. She couldn't understand how I was fine with how my hands reeked of musk. Here's the little girl that got her.

My boa regurged his rat right under the heat lamp, while I was away for a day long business meeting. When I got home the next morning, it didn't smell too great and took over a week for the smell to disappear from the enclosure (despite the cleaning) :)

Mine just happened over the past few days. When I've been getting home from work, I thought something was bad in the garbage or sink. Yesterday, I was changing all the water bowls and noticed the smell. I fed all my snakes on Sunday, but I guess the hopper that my Honduran killed was a little too big. I found it under his rock after 4 days of rotting , on top of the UTH. Yummy!!!

About two hours ago, I came home after visiting my folks for a day. Feeding day was Tuesday and I thought I got all the over night rats out of the rack tubs - I was wrong.

As it turns out, one of my ball pythons buried her rat and was laying on top of it, on her hot spot. It was a smashed up runny mess of decaying rat ooze when I found it.

It smelled the whole room something foul. Like a cross between rotting animal and
over-fried chicken. Very strange, very nauseating. I'll be checking under bedding better from now on.

a carpet python that had died in her hot end hide,i thought she was heading into a shed,because she used to go into her hot end hide for 7 to 10 days before a shed.....

I caught one, though not with my hands. I just walked up to it and dropped a box over it. I let it go shortly afterwards. They're pretty much oblivious to everything and kind of stupid.

my worst is hard for me to forget, I wish I could. It wasn't mine. I was helping a guy clean out his attic. He had an egg eater that had regurged in its feeding tub. He somehow "forgot" to clean the feeding tub, put the lid on it to take care of it later. Well, instead of getting cleaned , it wound up in the attic. When cleaning, he thought he found an empty tote. So unfortunately he opened it.

Also.. A juvenile female blood (aprox. 2 1/2 feet. I soaked her for a while and let her get some exercise. The amount of poop that came out of this snake was the same as what my 50 lb. dog drops and smelled far, far worse. We couldn't believe what came out of her..

Actually i think it was musk now that you mention it. Because when he pisses in his cage it does smell as bad or last as long. The reptile Bark might have something to do with the smell not being as strong. That why i use it seems to help neutralize the smell.

Seconded. I used to catch the garter snakes where I grew up (we called them water snakes, because I grew up on a lake, and they were *always* in the water.) It's a familiar smell, so it's not soo bad. It doesn't make me want to upchuck- but it is a pretty strong.... deterrent from getting e'tten. They thrived on the lake, because predators didn't want anything to do with the musk.

Perhaps I'm weird, but I like the natural smell of my snake and his tank. You know, when he hasn't pooped in it. It's calm smelling- for lack of a better description.

years ago i fed my Boa 2 Super large rats, about 3-4 days later at about 3am she decided to regurge....... everyone in my house woke up, the rats had already been digested to a geletin like substance with hair and bones....... you cant imagine smell could get that bad on a scale of how freaking bad a smell could possibly get, but this sucker must be top of the list, took me and hour to clean it up and no one could sit in the house, hense everyone litteraly called in sick for work the next day because no one slept that night lol its been a long time since i logged and this thread was top of the list and right away i thought of this night lol

A f/t mouse accidentally forgotten in someone's tub...one smell that makes me gag and gag and gag...and you have to clean the entire tub to get the smell out. Even then there is this...'remnant'.

Also snake musk is unpleasant, but it doesn't make me gag. I can deal with it.
