I've never noticed it before. maybe hes always done it. not sure. he's not out of the hides enough for me to really notice. But i went over to Turbo's enclosure, and when he saw me he started breathing very rapidly then it seemed like he came to a stop and just stared at me.

Something i should be worried about? I'm only asking because i know labored breathing is bad, but what about rapid breathing?

Probably just scared. When my snakes do it, it seems like they know something is watching them.

Some snakes do that but more common is when they take a deep breath and hold it to look bigger and tougher.

I agree, mine do it too when i peer in at them on occasion, then they *puff up* to appear tougher

If it's rapid breathing it's the first sign of stress. You've scared the animal by "sneaking up" on it.

It's great you're asking a lot of questions but sometimes you need to step back and just leave it be. Over care can be as bad as under care.

This is the 2nd sign of sneaking up on a sleeping snake and scaring her. :)
