Making wood safe

I cut all the bark off these sticks camping about 6 years ago and have been keeping them in my house. Are they okay to put in a tank or how to you guys get rid of pests? Thanks

They're probably fine. If you collected them 6 years ago and they're showing no signs of infestation, what could be wrong with them? I'm not particularly experienced with the concept of collecting branches from the wild, but the common opinion appears to be that most material is fine to use "as is." If there aren't any bugs on it, or signs of decay, you'll be okay. If you really want to be safe, you can just cut a live branch off a tree.

with mine, i soaked them in a bleach water combo, then baked them in the oven at 400 for an hour.

Look at the wood. See any bugs on it? If not, they are fine to use. I use wood from the wild all the time without any treatment and they are fine. Hard woods are preferred.
