Is this even possible? A green tree python bred with a red blood python?

There would be so many problems with that...

probably not the best forum for this discussion, cross breeding is a bit of a taboo subject - there are forums around the web dedicated to the subject tho, if you want a discussion about the possibilities without starting a flame war

Wow nice.
There are threads dedicated to hybrid discussion that are constructive.

I don't think it is appropriate to stifle discussion, the problem arises when people can't accept others differences or comment in constructive manners.
To the OP, I have no idea if such a hybrid is even possible, but why would you want to :-P lol what would you be hoping to get out of it?

I would say yes it possible. Black Blood to a Coastal Carpet was done about a year ago.

if by ''constructive'' you mean full of ethical and moral ranting against anyone who dares suggest a hybrid is anything less than a mortal sin or an abomination of nature, then yes, i agree.

i'd love to see the discussions happen, they are a very interesting topic, but every single one that I have seen pop up on here, has gone the same way. it was not an attempt to stifle discussion, it was prior warning, and a suggestion of options which will provide a less biased discussion.

Cant we all just get along?!?!
Geez, isn't it enough trouble getting a GTP to mate with another GTP?!
Kidding of course. There are some beautiful hybrid project out there.

The hard part going to be getting them to get busy. GTP spend most of their time on perches and Bloods on the ground. Plus if there's much of a size difference the Blood could seriously hurt the GTP.

My question would be how to keep it. In a tree or under leaf litter

is artificial insemination used much in the snake breeding world? beyond the scientific community i mean

Lets be honest, you could cross a blood with something as ugly as my mother-in-law and it'd still be beautiful!

I would say both that way it could chose. I think it would be interesting to set up cages with both for the babies. Then watch and see which they chose and if it changes over time and with age. For me the cool part would be studying them over the years and see how they behave and witch kind of habitat they would prefer given a chose.

I have never heard of it.

woah woah, I was just wondering. I don't even own a GTP, I was just smoking my medicine and this thought passed through my head. Its fun to see the responses, I am aware of the tabooness of the subject but so far everyone has had a good attitude. Thanks for the information.

since the subject was broached...hypothetically (i have NO intentions of ever doing this) but what about brazilian rainbows crossed with columbian rainbows? how different are they and are they able to cross breed? it was just something i wondered about is all...i'm still a relative newbie to the snake keeping world...

Pretty sure that one has been done. Don't know what the purpose would be though. It would make a snake less pretty than a Brazilian but more pretty than a Columbian. Both species have similar pattern.
