thanks guys :) inspired by Toothless's new addition, couldnt resist adopting a rescue one :) he's got the skinniest tail i've ever seen, so he'll be getting fattened up nicely over the next few weeks - despite being skittish, he's eating everything in site, so i think he may have been hungry for a while

I'm trying something i didnt do with my previous Leo's, using a Sand-Loam mix, mixed with lots of water, its currently mud, but as it dries it will produce a very hard sandstone type floor which should look great :) he wont be going into that enclosure until its dry of course!

pics to follow in a few days :)

The spotted ones are beautiful arn't they? :)
I used a soil/ sand mixture, then baked the top using a high wattage bulb- took about a week. It turned rock hard on the surface, and the little one has been trying to make burrows (it's not deep enough in this tank though- only 2-3 inches).

exactly what I am doing, except he's getting less than half an inch of substrate (and its sand-loam, rather than soil, drys litraly like rock), as I want to use a UTH for heating while he's small - all his hides will be pieces of oak bark, large stones and oak branches to climb about on - but I plan on moving him into my Savs hatchling enclosure, which i'm sure he'll enjoy burrowing about in and exploring!

yeah the spotted ones are beautiful :D they are by far my favorite, next in line are the Blizzards, love the pure white and black eyes...i seem to have the bug now, once this guy is settled into his final enclosure, he may find himself with a little harem soon after haha
