Hi guys,

at the moment I am looking at buying one of the larger snakes and thus would need a larger enclosure. On a few occasions people sell old enclosures that they no longer need that includes all the bells and whistles (heating pad, hygro/thermometre, hides, water dishes, branches, etc.)

Here is my question: Would you buy a second hand enclosure if you are not 100% sure why it is being sold? Would you use the old equipment (esp heating pad)? And what other things would you look out for?

if it works fine i dont see why it would matter.. anything you obtain should be washed in a bleach water solution anyway so it would kill anything that could "potentially"be there.

I agree, it worked for the previous owner. Just make sure you clean it first

Hmm maybe I am being sentimental in a weird way, but for some reason I wouldnt want to use a cage in which another snake died.

Is that just me?

on principal i have no issue with it, its easy to sterilize an enclosure and make it safe to reuse, regardless of what killed the occupant.

I also do not think that it is right to be wasteful, despite what some governments and corporations may like us to believe, our planet is does not have an endless supply of resources for us to consume and throw away as we wish.

Hi formica,

THANK YOU.

That is an aspect that I did not even think about. And my moral standings on polution and waste is a lot stronger than me being sentimental.

Case closed.
