I think Ammit is up for her food break this winter. She refused today, so I will leave the mice in the enclosure and see if she takes em.

Medusa is taking a break as well. She's about to shed. Last time she ate was October 29th.

Looks like Daisy has taken a break, it's been almost a month of no food. Guess I'll be saving some money! ;)

is this normal for kings and milks? also, can you prevent this by maintaining constant temps in their enclosures?

thanks :)

Most of us keep constant temperature gradients year round. Mid 70's cool side 85 to 90 warm side for my kings and corn. 74 on warm side for my black milk.

I woke up today, looked in the enclosure, and she was eating the mouse I left in their! Haha but she only ate the one, she wasn't interested in the other one at all. So maybe she's not for a break just yet.

My corns are still going strong, in fact im cutting back on my big snow, as shes starting to look TO round ;P The pines though have definately slowed down. My 2 year old Luci finally took a pair of weanlings after a 3 week break. the lil guy (black pine unsexed) is on his second week refusing. I wish I could say Im saving money but I keep offering anyway so its more a waste of money.

I'm kinda stumped about this no feeding situation. Hannibal Caesar hasn't eaten in 6 weeks but hasn't lost any weight either. Do we just wait them out? Keep offering and wasting food? I've tried everything to get him to eat. Raised his temps, increased his light cycle, tried scenting the mouse. My last resort is to try a live hopper but I'm not exactly sure when I should go this route.

Yeah just wait em out. Maybe offer food every 2 weeks or so

She is so cool! Augustus didn't eat last night lol yeah haha I love her:) she was mad at me cause I kept dangling the mouse in her face lol do you think Augustus might be up for a winter break? I tried feeding Ammit her second mouse(she normally eats two) and she didn't take it. Now I think she is up for break for good.

thats exactly where im at with my milk. i let it go to 90 for a few days after it eats. when you let the mice thaw out (if eating frozen) do you have to feed it warm? sometimes it takes about 10 mins before he eats it and by then the food is cold (room temp) lol that should be ok right?

Yeah that's fine. I thaw mine in warm water. All my snakes normally eat as soon right away. I do make them follow the tongs with mouse until they grab it.
