My baby black milk snake arrived this morning, about 40 min ago :). He was pretty freaked out so I couldn't hold him for pictures but here are a couple quick ones:

After that I wanted to leave him alone so he could settle in :). I'll get some real photos once he's settled. What do you guys use for substrate? I was thinking of doing aspen but let me know if there's something better. I'm still planning his "real" set-up :).

Oh I'm going to pick up some sphagnum Moss for a moist hide for mine today.

Pretty boy! I'm always a fan of that vibrant red. Any decisions on a name?

Also, Aspen works pretty well, a bit on the dusty side but nothing a quick spray won't fix.

Thanks, guys! Aspen it is :).

I'll definitely get pics when he has a new tank and such. Right now he's in a smaller enclosure for quarantine since the place he's being quarantined is a room with not much extra space. I'm going to pick up a 20-gallon as a more permanent home (until he outgrows it, of course!).

Not sure on names yet. I was thinking Remington for some reason, no idea where it came from. We'll see :p.

Awesome! Can't wait for more pics! Cool name! Darth is in a 10g for now. As much as he is eating it won't be long for a larger enclosure! Lol:D

Yup, got him out today but not intentionally. Roommate wanted to see him, titled the enclosure slightly, and spilled water . Woke me up because he didn't know what to do and felt really bad :o. So I had to change the paper towels and he slithered up my arm. Got a cute picture:

He seems really nervous but not aggressive or anything. I really didn't want to handle him yet but he seemed ok with it. I'll try feeding him soon :).

I still can't get mine to eat :-( I hope you have better luck with yours! I tried braining tonight. Still nothing so far. I am going to leave it overnight and check in the morning.

Cool shot! He will settle down. Darth is relaxed now when I remove him from his enclosure. Then starts exploring. :)

Well darn! Keep us posted. I'm surprised he hasn't eaten. Feeding pinks or fuzzies? Darth is eating fuzzies.

I just realized I posted this in General Colubrids instead of the milk snake forum. Guess I was too excited, ha!

I'm thinking of calling the little guy Remington, Remi for short :). No idea why, just popped into my head. We'll see!

He took two large f/t pinkies today! I'll definitely move him up to fuzzies after this. He has a great feeding response...but awful aim. He kept missing even though I wasn't moving it at all...ha.

Remi sounds cool! Congrats! Darth misses too but has the same feeding response. Now if Knox ' s Black would feed that would be awesome. 3 Brothers! :D

Remi's going into shed for the first time since getting him :). I'll post pics when he's done!

(two of my sand boas are also shedding, must be the time for it!)
