OK so he hasn't eaten in a couple months.. this im not concerned about because he goes off feeding sometimes i mean he is a ball python lol...


my real concern is he keeps laying in his water bowl and i dont know why.. i have examined him and he has no mites and his cage is clean as it always is dont know if i should be concerned.. i understand that they sometimes lay in their water bowl but he is doing it more than 50% of the time now and this is something new.. i have considered an RI for some reason i read somewhere that it could be a sign not sure if that's true or not.. his humidity is decent most of the time around 50-60% and his heat stays at about 85-90 on the hot side and 73 ish on the colder side. today is feeding day again.. we shall see if he eats for us..

how sure are you that the humidity is 50-60%? have you calibrated your hygrometer (look up salt calibration method, its very simple), its not uncommon for hygrometers to become less accurate with age, if you can access the internals of the probe, check for rust, which will reduce its accuracy massivly

im certain its correct.. as i have placed brand new ones in there as well to check the accuracy and they are all around the same area.

Personally i would bump humidity by 10% and temps by five dgrees hot and cold end.

Id treat for mites as a precaution ( I do it prophetically anyway personally) as sometimes it can be VERY difficult to see the mites, especially if in the larval stage. Just another option :)

Awkward question, has he had a regular bowl movement? I was told with one of my other snakes (JCP) this could stop them from eating so i had to soak him. It is all good now, so it could be a thought (IDK)

Check that water bowl! See if there is any mites at the bottom. Use a white bowl to better see, because the mites are black. If not I don't think I would treat for mites. I would def keep a close eye on the snake for awhile. As a mite infestation can be a pain in the ...
