Hello!

I am having an issue with my Hog Island Boa rubbing her face on the lid of her cage. She's very persistent, and has been getting sores... (up until today we had only noticed one) The one we noticed and have been putting the anti-bacterial good-stuff on (:p) is on the flat of her nose, where you might expect it to be. The one we just noticed is on the point of her mouth, she's been trying to use her head to pry up the lid, I guess. I can provide pictures tomorrow, if needed. :)

I've had her for three years, and I haven't made any major changes, her hides and everything are the same. Could it just be that she's bored and needs more climby things?

I'm super worried about it... I don't like seeing her mess up her pretty face. Here's what she looks like before she gets her face all messed up!

Hey and Welcome! great pic! Post pics of her enclosure and someone will help. Is the "lid" smooth?

yeah give us some more info, and the more pics the better! :) how big is she? how big and what kind of cage? how often and how much is she eating? temps/humdity etc

if she's trying to get out, 3 things come to mind, first, the temps or humidity are not quite right for her, check them all a few times using digital thermometers (IR guns are best), think about the areas she spends most of her time, cool end or hot end? does she perhaps need slightly higher or lower temps? second, perhaps she's not eating big enough meals and is trying to get out to hunt, how often does she hunt and how quickly after a meal? finally the enclosure could be too small and as you say, she's bored

My hog prefers to stay perched up on a branch rather than on the bottom of the enclosure. I don't know what your setup looks like but might need some stuff to climb on.

This is his preferred method of chillin :)

Apologies it took me so long to respond to my own thread... >_< Every time I went to respond the forum was under maintenance or something.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. :)
MONIKAZEMA, he's gorgeous! :D

Anywho, I rearranged Aida's tank, and now she is perfectly content. I think it was her being over stimulated/having too large of hides. (Gave her an old hide back, and a black cloth for her to push where she wanted it... And some climbing sticks.) Here's a couple pictures of the happy, healing girl.
