For those who didnt know, my buddy gave me this guy because his step son was terrified of him and his wife kept falling in love with his food!! He was in a 20 GAL. long but seemd a little cramped. He is in a 40 GAL. breeder now, with humidity and temp gauges and PLENTY of space to roam around! He seems MUCH happier!! I think he is even showing off a "SMILE" in the fourth picture down LOL!

Wow. Really awesome! :) one great part about having one or only a few snakes is that you can really focus on giving them beautiful Vivs. I'd give my snakes beautiful vivs but I don't have the time to maintain them

I hear ya!! I had a bunch a while back, plastic tubs set up for each of them. I sold my breeder group and I sold my others to friends with kids who were very interested in snakes when I moved. This guy fell into my lap and I couldnt say no lol. Hes one spoiled BP

Good! :) Snakes deserve to be spoiled, imo.

So two feedings later, i have concluded that the reason this snake would go on/off feed for my buddy was due to housing errors. A hide, water dish, light n bedding in too cramped of a tank just wasnt suitable lol. All is going well!

I am glad the lil guy went to a good home. Nice looking set-up. If it were me, I would cover the top as much as possible. I do not believe that a heat lamp on a screen top is in a ball python's best interest.

I know :). This isn't my first BP rodeo but it was a short notice lol. I have almost 3/4 of the lid covered and the lamp for a basking spot which heats up his half log hide up to about 90 degrees F. Ill be getting a UTH here soon. Its a work in progress but I think he is much better off now tho lol

Glad he's eating well for you and seems happy! What a cute little guy, but watch out the grow up so fast...

Getting a UTH will be much better as I know a lamp set-up can actually cause humidity issues. :) I have one bp in a tank and I cover it with some tinfoil and it works great. Don't forget a thermostat as well once you are set up.

Thanks hurrok!! My last BP was pretty big. 5' at least. I hope this guy can live as happy and healthy !!

That's a nice size! I'm hoping one of my babies will grow up to be that big. :bouncy:

do you setup the thermostat right above the heatpad in the substrate? im 50/50 on weather or not i should use a heatpad or not :)

@ Nyjon, Yes the probe should be just over the substrate where the snake will actually be. I love heat pads and they are pretty much a must for BPs ( or heat tape if you are so inclined).
