I want to know if she is a true redtail boa or if she is just a common boa or (columbian boa). I was just recently told that there is a difference.

Thank you for answering! I posted a picture on Instagram yesterday and someone tried telling me she was a cuban python. I don't even think that's a snake.

Can you explain the difference please. Every time I look up true red tail or columbian boa I get pictures that don't look like her.

That's what I tried telling the guy but he insisted that's what my snake was because he had the same thing. He said a pet shop told him that which is scary that someone with no knowledge is running a reptile store.

Donnie, thank you for the link.

A BCI. A very pretty BCI at that.

How the heck can you tell? I looked at the chart and to me it look like the BCC. Better yet which country do the TRUE RED TAILS come from? Half of the BCC don't even look like a red tail to me.

The tail makes me think BCI, saddles make me think BCC

This is a little bit better picture of her tail. She's always wrapping it so it's hard to get a good one.

That is so very obviously a bci. It is just very light in color and clean for a bci.

I'd have to read the book again(complete boa constrictor) but basically in colombia the bcc and bci are divided by a either a mountain range or river, and in that area the bcc and bci integrade.

But in OP's picture I see nothing bcc about it other than a very clean background color

Mikoh, I agree and I'm certain it's BCI, but TinaBoa, you have a very high quality BCI. Very lucky!

Thank you both for helping me identify her. It was getting difficult trying to compare her to pictures and her not looking like VERY few of them. The breeder I got her from said he saved the best for last and I guess he was right. Thanks again.

Just for fun here's a picture I took of her eating today.

I would say BCI as well. Here are some pictures of my Suriname BCC…

Haha I didn't notice my finger in the second..

Definitely a Boa Constrictor Imperator Columbian - Common Boa.
But like already stated above, this is a high quality bred one.
Light background color and saddles are bred to resemble a bcc.

Congrats.

I'm still not even sure how to tell the difference. But thank you all.

You can tell by the saddles and the tail.
