been a while since i posted a pic of my Sav, roughly 6 months old now i think (assuming april-ish bday)

''installed'' a new swimming pool for him/her, an extra large cat tray, but wasn't allowed to take pics of him making a mess in it, managed to catch him sunbathing after a swimming but he soon puffed up, hissed and disappeared again lol

Hi, do you have a ToL or SV length, and have you managed to weigh the monitor at all, yet?

nope on both questions, i'd estimate about 40cm-50cm total length

considering the yellow-gold tones, would it be a fair assumption that my Sav is probably a male? i've read a few things that have said females are usually brown, males yellow-golden

There are many colour variations from the different locales so I don`t think I would place too much faith in that being either a definite male or female characteristic.
At a possible 50cm the monitor could well be sexually mature, can you try and get a few pics of the tailbase from the side, as in when the monitor is standing/walking without it resting on anything, also the head in profile and from the top?
It may not yet be as pronounced as this, but to give you an idea (this is male, though obviously not exanthematicus)...

thats kind of what I expected, but a couple of seemingly reputable sources, breeders of Savs, said its the most reliable way, without actually seeing the hemipenis

I doubt i can get a pic from the top (without getting bitten lol), but i'll give it a go at feeding time tomorrow - there is a bit of a bulge at the base of the tail, i'll see if i can get a pic of that aswell
