I'd like a ball python. I found these I found a guy selling out on cl. He's asking for offers though and I don't know what the snakes are worth. The one I want is very minimally pied with just a few triangles near it's belly and 700-800 grams. Ideas what it's worth? I have $100 to spend after setting up my snake enclosure.

Welcome. I am no expert on Ball Pythons, but from what I have seen. Pieds can go for $300.00 to $1000.00 maybe even more depending on the genes it has.

Hello and welcome. :)

From what I've seen, pieds are very expensive, and $100 may not be enough, even for one with such low white.

A picture of the snake would help with an idea of pricing but typically piebalds currently run around $500-$1500. Each specimen is different though and I would still talk to the guy and see what he's looking for..

You will most likely not get a pied for $100. But let me ask you a question...why not just spend $20-$30 for a nice normal ball python as your first snake and see how that goes?

Also, what kind of set up did you get?

This, Normals are great (my first was a no-frills normal) And I love him to death! It got me introduced to snakes Without breaking my bank. Now that I have a more experience I'll be getting a much larger, More expensive snake (dumeril)

I don't think $100 will be enough to get a pied unless the person selling it wants to be very generous and let you have it for that low price. As was mentioned, for a mere $30, you can find a regular morph Ball Python.

Try $100... You never know. A $30 normal is cool and all but a $100 pied is bad@$$!!!!

Try $100... You never know. A $30 normal is cool and all but a $100 pied is bad@$$!!!!I agree with this. The worst he could do is say no and you will be where you are now. No harm done. If he goes for it, you have a very unique snake at a bargain price.

If you decide to go for a Normal, that would be cool as well and you definitely have the money for one of those. Either way you go with it, you will have a great snake as your first.

Just in the interest of the wellbeing of the snake-
You've done the research on the space, food, heating, humidity, etc requirements of the snake, and how to achieve those? And you're going to have an appropriate home set up, pre warmed and ready before you get the snake?

As a side note- I recommend feeding rats for the snake's lifetime. They're meatier, heavier boned, and just generally a more substantial meal. Start with very small rats and work your way up as the thickness of the snake increases over time. Frozen thawed rats though. Try to avoid live food as it can injure your snake by biting it, if the snake grabs the prey wrong.
