I know people think palpating/feeling for hemipenes is an inaccurate sexing method: just letting everyone know that Brian Barczyk uses palpating quite often. That makes me feel that it's a reliable method of sexing. Thoughts?

I have palpated my Kenyan Sand Boas with no difficulty at all. Some species may be more difficult to do, but with Kenyans, if done correctly, you can feel the hemipenes "snap" back, kibd of like a rubber band. I also decided to try it on my adult Royal, and had the same results as my male Kenyans. Could definitely feel the hemipenes snap back.I'm sure others will knock this, but palpating is my preferred method to sex my Kenyans, and I haven't been wrong yet...but if I did make a mistake in sexing, I definitely would make it right with my customer.

I've seen Brian Barczyk use it on his royals several times. That's what made me curious as to how accurate it is

I would not buy a snake that was palpated (probing will be most accurate)...that is me personally. If you do this and are wrong, you're gonna have one pissed off customer.

I think the comment by KKgal is spot on tho, if you're wrong, you'd better be willing to make it right.

Palpation is how I determined Cloud was male. I originally thought he was female, but after palpating I came to the conclusion he was male. Bud had much too thick of a tail to tell so I don't know. Now it's the same for Cloud; his tail is too thick for me to feel anything. Of course, I don't care what gender they are, but it would still be interesting to know. Maybe I'll have Cloud sexed one day to see if I was right.

I did have very much info on Palpating whatsoever. It got me curious again after learning that a famous, reputable breeder (Brian) uses this method to sex some of his snakes.
Any chances that it could be accurate if done correctly?

No. I was banned because of the way I treated other members. I don't have any reason to argue now, though. It's just weird because 50% of people will say it's completely accurate if you do it right, the other 50% will say it's completely completely inaccurate.

Yeah, I don't see how the subject of palpation itself would get someone banned. I would say it's as he claims; his behavior and not the subject of the discussion.

GUYS Again I told wayne about Erik awhile ago he knows, and a few other people knew, Erik asked for a second chance, and even though I have had a lot of issues with him and was not happy at first seeing him back he has been behaving and I have no issue with him being here as long as he continues to do so, he seems to be trying to get on the right track and we should be allowing him to.

I know a lot of stuff happened when he was here last and yes a lot of us were upset and fed up with him myself included and i'm not one for giving second chances so if I can i'm sure you guys can to. Trust me if anyone is going to be on him if he starts causing anything problems it will be me and I will be informing Wayne asap if he doesn't notice himself.

Btw, I know that you weren't pleased with my enclosures in the past but I've taken some of your advice into consideration and I covered three sides of all my enclosures, and all my snakes have more secure hide spaces now. Whether or not you forgive me for being stupid, I am glad that you're not upset with me anymore.

I don't understand? You said as long as he behaved it was fine but if he screwed up no mercy but I don't see the screw up? He didn't argue with anyone, there was no fighting or bickering.

If drama started yes I could see banning him but Honestly he seemed sincere about changing and heck if anyone wanted him gone it was me but even I changed my mind. I'd rather have him here behaving and having people dissuade him from bad choices then casting him out again to be told to do whatever he wants at the animals expense. I just don't get why you said in pm to me it was fine until he screwed up if he did but now he just gets banned.

What I am doing is the same as Randyrhodes got, I'm reinstating his original account, otherwise it's open season on people having multiple accounts.

I have no problem with him getting a second chance and truthfully i hope it works out like it did for Randy. I think we only had two people who were banned and given a second chance that it didn't get banned again. So Erik good to have you back and from what i seen your doing a much better job at playing with others hope to see you keep it up.

And i totally agree with Wayne on the one account is all anyone needs.

Wasn't there a ban once before? Wayne was generous enough to let you back on probation for a bit, if I remember correctly.

Mistakes can be made with any sexing....probing, popping, and palpating...so if you have an inexperienced keeper probe or pop an animal incorrectly, you're also going to have a pissed off customer, so you should not exclude the more "reliable" forms of sexing from this....

It all goes back to experience in my opinion.....
