This is is my first winter with my new hobby.... Grew from 1 to 9 in 10 months lol I think I'm addicted.
My IJ is 1 years old and I believe they stop feeding in the winter... I want to confirm. She has refused the last 3 meals. She has never refused before and now 3 times

Not sure if it's a temperature thing or a seasonal thing(internal clock) with carpets. Right now the enclosures my carpets are in are well insulated so the conditions are pretty much similar all year round(unless I purposely cool the cages). My carpets are still eating weekly(both of my IJ's as well)

They usually don't start going off of feeding until they hit adulthood.

Both my IJs ate last night. They are the northernmost of carpet pythons so I doubt they slow down at all, maybe only males while they are on the hunt for females.

Most male carpets that are breeding age will take a winter breaj. It varies from snake to snake and many other factors. If you offer it food every few weeks over the winter eventually they take it. My male JCP eats less than 10 rats a year. I look at it as a blessing and not an issue to worry about.

I own two IJ carpets and live in northern Manitoba. the winter hasn't brought any change, I could see. Even the one eyed carpet python ate without a fuss

males and females can go off their food during breeding season
that said, 1 year old is still quite a young snake, but they can still sometimes go off their food
re heating
if they don't have enough heat to aid digestion, they will not eat
what are your temperatures ?
they can also go off their prey when going into and through the shedding proccess
cheers shaun
