As some may know I have been feeding my ball three small mice. Today I feed him a small rat but it is enormous compared to the mice. Thankfully Bo my ball attacked it real fast I was shocked but its taken h8m for ever to eat it how long should it take?

Can you show a pic of the prey item inside the snakes belly?
I'd say that's just about right.

Size is just fine. Don't panic. As long as you get the humidity fixed the rest should be fine

Thanks guys I have to say I was shocked at how fast he attacked it was crazy . All that nervousness over feeding bigger prey (bigger teeth) was for nothing but I was ready to yank the rat out if I needed to. I have to agree he looks so happy( if u believe they feel happiness)!!!!

Don't get ready to yank the rat out... Get ready to shove a knife through it's head.
I love all animals and that sounds horrible but I don't play with my snakes health.
It's not worth the risks... Here's what one rat was able to do to a snake...

In the past, if my Ball had trouble with a shed, I put her in an ice cream bucket with about 3/4 of an inch of warm water, leave her in there for about 20 minutes, then take her out and gently rub on the skin and it comes off real easy, you have to be careful though not to force it, it should slide of with a bit of pressure.

He usually shed no problem more then once it was all in one piece but I just changed the substrate to newspaper and have been misting but im not really lik8ng the newspaper I want to get kritter krumble someone on here said its good at holding moisture none of the stores carry it so I have to order online no cash in the bank so I'm just gonna have to wait but the shed came off the rest of the way tonight while eating so it was only three days from starting shed I dont think thats to bad

Because the owner didn't pay attention! Don't be scared. Fear is silly. Being aware of danger ia smart.. I'm just showing you that there IS danger and hopefully you'll prepare yourself to do whatever is necessary to keep your snake safe

It was a very sad picture but I watch the whole time he eats and I will gladly kill any rat that tries to hurt my snake

I don't see a rat doing that to any snake with a strong feeding response, especially a constrictor.

It happened. The snake also lost it's tongue.. I sure hope they killed that poor snake.

My dads ball python eats medium size rats. He went to feed it one time and the rats tail broke off and ran off leaving a blood trail. He found it though, I'm not sure if his python took it or what he did with the rat.

Thanks I know I said this earlier but I put that big rat in there and I've never seen him attack so fast it was crazy fast. I wonder what the difference was do u think the snake realized this rat was a bigger threat ? When I put the smaller mice he would stalk and wait the mouse out wait for it to walk by. This rat hit the bottom of enclosure Bo add it wrapped up in 2 sec. I was shocked!!!!
