Hey everyone

I signed on here because my roommate bought a snake and left me to care for him for a little while so I had some questions.
Everyone was very helpful and I appreciate all of the help and advice I have gotten so far. Since the snake isn't going anywhere I thought I would formally introduce myself, I figure I'll be sticking around for a while. :)

Mmm, let's see I've never owned a snake, they don't creep me out, I'm a little apprehensive about handling them, but that's just because I don't want to get bit lol I know next to nothing about snakes, 'cept they eat mice and they like warm places 'cause they are cold-blooded lol So, i hope to learn some more since my roommates snake will be in my care while he is deployed in 8 months.

Welp, um, anything else y'all want to know, feel free to ask :)

Ah I see. Actually I just took a look at your other thread. Are you sure he's not a bci?

Red tailed boas are bcc(boa constrictor constrictor) while bci(boa constrictor imperator) are not.

Ummmm.....No idea what any of that means so...I don't know lol what's the difference between the two? I'm about to post close up pictures of him if you want to see

Sure pics are always nice.

boa constrictors are broken up into different categories. A few examples would be boa constrictor imperator, constrictor, longicuada, amarali...etc.

The ones you usually find in petstores and the most common in the pet trade are boa constrictor imperator. Most boa constrictor imperators are found in Central and northern South america.

Real Red tails are boa constrictor constrictor. They have bright red tails and usually grow larger than bci. A few examples are Guyanese, Peruvian and Suriname red tails.

If you do a quick google image search of boa constrictor imperator and constrictor you will be able to see the difference in color and patterning.
