black/white, black/yellows are the only ones I've seen. What kinds have you got over there?

our pure Diamonds are the same type you get in Australia mate

theres just not many black and whites produced in clutches..

theres a few Black and White Diamonds kicking around Europe, but not many in the UK

stunning. I like diamonds, just don't have the space. What sized enclosure would you need for an adult?

i use 4x2x2ft vivariums

that said if any of my Diamonds turn out to be large examples,i will use 6x2x2ft vivariums

imo Diamonds are the most economical Carpets to keep mate

only get fed 6 months of the year

only get 2 to 8 hours basking light and uvb per 24 hours depending on season, then no more heat

very interesting and beautiful snakes as well imo

How cool do you keep Diamonds through the winter? Is room temperature low enough for them to cool off?

How cool do you keep Diamonds through the winter? Is room temperature low enough for them to cool off?

room temperature is too hot in my house,as we have our central heating on for winter,so.....

i put them up in the attic/loft where it gets cold enough for them

i set a small heat mat at 50F just incase its goes too cold

once cooling has begun, they also get 2 to 4 hours basking spot of 90F and 2.0 uvb for the same legnth of time

last feed 1st September, keep the temps normal and allow 4 weeks for their gut to clear

1st October start cooling

1st Febuary start to bring the heat back up, lengthening basking and uvb time, also move them back down into a room in my house bringing ambient air temps up

first feed, last week in Febuary, to first week in March

Interesting that they need UVB unlike most snakes. Have you seen any detriments to their health when not using uvb?

it is thought that lack of UVB may be something to do with the cause of DPS.....

DPS = Diamond Python Syndrome

its a disease where Diamonds end up with their bones going brittle and breaking, where ribs, spine, jaws, etc, break

there is no treatment and euthinisation is all you can do

re common thoughts on Diamonds...

if you keep them too hot they will die,in the begining when folk were keeping them the same as the other Carpets, there were a lot of Diamonds dropping dead for no apparent reason at roughly 5 or 6 years of age

if you make them too fat they will die, first thing i learned about Diamonds was a fat Diamond is a dead Diamond

it is also thought keeping them without UVB may cause DPS,DPS seems to appear from no where at the age of 5 to 6 years

^^^^^
the above info is what ive learned from other keepers and research

he's getting big,but still keeping his lean muscular shape, thats a beautiful Diamond you have there

i set a heat mat at 50F just incase the night time temps drop too low

i give them 4 weeks after their last feed to clear their gut

imo your Diamond will be fine under your care mate

i can't wait to see what he produces, are you breeding him with anything this coming season ?

cheers shaun

I may place with a big 2kg girl I have...not sure. She "pretty" in her own right, but not what I'm shooting for. I'm not sure I want to make a bunch of babies (even at 50% diamond) that may not be as desired as the higher contrast animals. What are your thoughts? You can PM me if you want....Apologies to OP for going off track.

No problem, the OP has been addressed anyways. I'd be interested in this conversation. Something I've been thinking about as well.(Pairing my jungles)
