I have some great news! Not only is Cupcake (the BCI I'm getting on Wednesday) defensive... But she's 7' long! This is sure to be fun.

This is going to be interesting. Ironic name for the snake though, I like that.

Should be a fun experience. Lol.. I think she needs a nice name to be a nice snake, right?
Also did it for the irony ;)

Doesn't look too bad. :p I think I can live with that

Doesn't look like a walk in the park, but not as bad looking as what I was expecting

That's only after the bite. When I got bit by a 7 ft bci blood was pouring out of those little holes. Although it was on the forearm so it might have ruptured a few vessels.

I know that there will be lots of blood. My five month BCI makes me loose enough lol
I could only imagine how that'll be with a 7' BCI.

Mine bled like mad then stopped completely. 5 days later you could not tell I was ever bitten. Felt more like a burn than a bite.It was not near as bad as I would have guessed . The secret to making sure the bite isn't bad....avoid it.

You think it has to do with an anti-coagulant in the saliva? Same thing happened to me. Blood was pouring out and then a few minutes later it stopped bleeding altogether.

Believe it or not, it gets even better!! She's very touchy and defensive and is said to HATE hooks even more than people lol

just make sure you give her plenty of time to settle down. Often with raptors etc with unacceptable food aggression or imprinting behavior, transfer to a new facility/people/scenery can turn them around. I'd leave her alone for at least a week, and then start form SCRATCH.
hook train as if she were a wild, 13 ft burn, and respect her space. Some snakes will not tame down, and you're not going to get anywhere by bullying her into being handled.
