This female varanus ornatus was an adoption and has come along way.She was three years old when acquired and had never been gravid and was classified incorrectly as a male nile monitor. After providing proper husbandry she is no in her second lay season.she was 91 cm when i acquired her and had several medical issues now she almost 149 cm and hell on wheels ( to say the least).lol. I hope she grows a little more but female run small, either way her recovery from stunted growth is going well and surpasses my estimates of her growth recovery.

I love ornates!!!!!
does she lay duds?
this even more helps to reasure me that my Godzilla is a Female as she's only around 121cm ish at two years (including what is missing off the tip of her tail) at least she was two months ago.

I'm doing research and trying to see if i can promote Parthenogenesis out of her. last year i didn't catch her gravid state in time and the clutch was bad. It was her first clutch and some monitors just simply just don't know what the hell to do first time around. This year she displayed typical pre-lay behavior so I'm just gonna incubate the clutch and see what happens.. the ratio is 2 out of 22 (arguably).. I doubt any fertile eggs though, but i'll give every clutch a chance since i have a hovabator I don't use..lol.smh.. I've notice that allot of partho cases are occurring with older monitors( not going to bore anyone with my input)
