Tagline? I don't know what that is. Is that the same as a signature?
As for the comment. Let me ask a question first. Out of the thousands of Baby Burms sold every year, what percentage of those have you seen full grown? Not that many, probably about 1% to maybe 5% max. As much as it hurts people's pride, not that many people can take care of a truly giant snake. If someone is experienced enough for a burm, then they will generally get a rescue, there are plenty of rescue burms around. Burms also tend to be prone to RIs (as it looks like Snakemann is finding out). Would YOU recommend a 15 year old kid get a burm? I should hope not. And he was advised against one by numerous people with years of experience. He already said that he got rid of his corn snake because he got bored with it. Chances are the burm is not going to live out a full and healthy life in his care. I have seen it too many times with Burms. Chronic illness and a keeper that has no idea what they are getting into. A burm is not a beginner snake, in my opinion, it should be left to those with experience in very large constrictors. well, that is the tip of the iceburg of my opinions. Just my opinions and a few facts sprinkled in. If I typed all of them, I would have to find a publisher;)

Thanks BW, I now know that we are on the same page, and saved me with some typing.
Tagline = Signature
Thanks

I'm not sure whats not to understand about BWSmith's "Tagline" No animal should be Altered so someone can keep it as a macho symbol.
I agree No 15yr old has any business owning a burm. Yet BUYING one from the pet trade. This is the reason for so many adoption Burms out there. People don't realize it, when they buy them. We get calls daily to take peoples Burm and retics off their hands. Whare are they going to go. The experienced herpers can only keep so many. Oh wait I know pawn them off to the breeders so they can breed more of them. Its a viscous cylcle that keeps escelating.
I have no problem owning a burm . I have one even bought one, but that was before I knew what the situation was. Now Im sorry i did buy one, cuz I see so many homeless now.

I agree, I agree, and I agree!
A 15 year old should not old a burmese!
Maybe a 15 year olds parents, but not a 15 year old.
At that age your are pushing making a commitment for one week much less a 20 or more year commitment.

Man, keep that crap over at RTB.net...you guys reamed him for over 100 replies over there...don't come chasing him over here, please. That is one of the reasons I left...among many others...

I will say that is a nice cage though. Although i would have put the lights on once side to allow for more of a gradient.

I dont think anyone is "chasing" him Jriley. Like many others, I frequent many forums and call 'em like I see 'em.

yes, over and over again...funny how 3 RTB regulars posted one right after the other...I agree with what you've said, but you're beating a dead horse.

I will agree that it was odd the timing. But I tried to stay abstract and was asked to clarify. So be it. I do give him credit for building the cage he said he was going to. And not a bad cage at that.

Nice, that one should give you a few months to get a new one designed and built.

Ok cool
My opinion is that of course Burmese shouldn't be sold to any average 15 year old kid!! Of course not!
But is snakemann87 an average 15 year old? Doubtfully. He has shown the time needed to build the cage which alone tells you he has more than a passing interest in reptiles as well as having a full grown Ball Python. He apparently cares for that snake well. The average "party hard" and 100% influcenced by anything teenager would OF COURSE get tired of taking care of a 15 foot snake. They want to go out, nothing is more important than friends and fun, they don't normally care much about anything but their own social lives...and thats not to say anything bad about teens, we were all like that.
But when a teenager, or even a child shows an interest in something continually they tend to care about it more than the average "got it because it looks cool" And in this case I agree with the rest of these people, leave him alone. I mean really he will never be able to satisfy you, and no matter what all you will see is the number 15. Not every teenager should get a Pilot Lisence but the ones who show a true ability and interest are allowed to test and learn and eventually have them.
If any law should be passed it should prevent teens from owning large snakes but allow an exception for those like snakemann87
who obviously show an interest in learning and caring for their burm properly. And berating him constantly without even caring about his true interest in reptiles is not helping anyone.
snakemann87 the best thing you can do is take care of that burm responsibly, and properly for its entire life :) Keep coming here to ask questions, people in the community will help you! :)
Marisa
Many people who are VERY interested in snakes and their welfare, who are breeders, keepers and other types, get "bored" of colubrids! :)
At least he knew the snake wasn't for him and is obviously pursueing pythons as a main focus of interest. If he wanted a "big cool snake" he wouldn't have gotten a Ball Python as well, as they often stay smaller than corns length wise...the corn probably just wasn't for him.
