Hey guys! I just joined the forum and am thinking about purchasing my first snake. I would like one that is very handle able and quiet. I was looking at corns and kingsnakes however I think that they are more active than what I want. So.. I am interested in a ball python! I do have experience in small lizards but none in snakes so this would be my first. What do you guys think? Or is there something else you could recommend as a first snake? Also, if you could link me to some reputable caresheets, that would be awesome! Thanks in advance :)

How big are you willing to go in terms of enclosure size?

Hmmm.. That's a good question! I'm thinking 4x2x2. But that would be the max. Smaller would better.

A lot of things could fit in there.

For your first snake I wouldn't make the mistake I did of just jumping in after researching online caresheets and looking at pictures. I would go straight to an expo or reptile shop and personally see these animals up close and personal, observe their behavior and get a good look. Then I would make my decision.... because there is just so much to choose from.

That's actually what made me more interested in purchasing a snake.. I went to a store a couple hours away and looked at all the snakes. They had so many though.. I think I need to go back! Lol

Make a list of the top five most interesting snakes, go check all of them out. It's most definitely worth it... Even if you have to drive across the country to check out the one you want because you'll be satisfied with having an awesome pet instead of settling for one.
