Retail value???

Hello .. If you remember.. My male carpet died about a month ago due to malpractice from the vet .. (check old post for the full story)

This Friday I have a meeting with the Director and the Vet of the animal Hospital in questions to discuss compensation..

My male was a half coastal / Irian Java carpet python .. he was about 5 years old and a proven breeder 2 years in a row.. if i remember corectly .. 6 feet some inches and around 4 pounds..

In your oppinion .. How much is he worth .. what should I ask for him? Some of my animals are still sick due to the overdose of Flagyl .. (My female burm will probably die sometime soon also - the overdose has stressed her out so much that she has already lost 13 pounds .. and seems to be getting worst everyday :( )

What do u guys/girls think I should also ask for or discuss with them?

This is kinda stressing me out.. Any advice would be apreciated ..

its hard to put a price on an animal that meant so much to you
I would definitley start high because I think the emotion value that the animal had should count for something.

just my opinion, but start with like $400 - $500, sure its high for that particular animal, but like I said, there is the emotional loss as well and that should mean something...plus he was a proven breeder and very nice looking

you didnt only lose the intrinsic value of the one snake, but all the potential offspring from a big breeder male....

let me know if you think im overshooting too much :)

To me, it seems high but your right .. you have no Idea the chit I have gone throguh because of them .. If I had to put a price on him I would say he was worth give or take 250$ .. ( I mean - that is probably the max i could sell him for) but In my mind he was worth a fortune..

I honestly don't even know now if I want to go through with it .. I feel like I should just drop the whole thing. Thanks for the oppinion .. I think Ill overshoot the price with hope of getting a reasonable amount for him .. although it won't bring him back, I am shure it will help find a partner for my lonely female!

I agree with matt....4-5 hun sounds good for the carpet & emotion alone....however, during this talk...id reccommend bringing up the fact that ur other snakes like ur burm are still suffering from the overdose and have something written down or verbally planned with the vet for future deaths/illnesses due to his faulty practice... cause it will be harder to call him up in 6 months if ur burm dies (knock on wood) and ask to be repaid if he thought everything was fully delt with the last time .....

Heate to say it, but IJCPxCCP are not all that common, I would tell them it's a rare cross and go for the big bucks!
