Hi all. I just wondering about black scovia and volcanic dust that just that has grains of volcanic rock about the size of cat litter. Is there a difference between black scovia that is still black? Also Will the dust be OK to use aswel as the gravely stuff that is black? As i have now all the proper required ingredients to make true and original recipe bbs as is made true instead of using white live rock or pumice as a substitute. So exiting times ahead on making this.
Also is natural clay cat litter that has no added nasties in the since of chemicals ect and unnatural additives that are used in clumping and coloring chemicals ect. Will this be the same as Bentonite clay cat (clay natural fired) litter?
I managed to find some proper laver rocks so just bashing them down to size and getting the glass tank in was a rite kerfuffle and not to mention soo heavy was a good job had a hand carrying the tank as 4 ft long with 6&4 ml glass tank would of been... Darn near impossible on my own as I was practically carrying it vertically... upstairs on a VERY hot day too at one Point.
Back on bbs how do you get yours aireated? As I want the aerobic bacteria to thrive not the anaerobic that'd be all my work ruined. I was thinking putting twigs in it or something like that. I have been storing and making up a test batch to see how it goes.. and the signs seem to be there that it could be on its way to getting there.
How have you done yours and what have you put in With it? As it could be difrunt to mine. I'm leaving the sand out just in case Problems arise
i was going to put the 'live' things in but wondered would they aggravate the snake? he is still in quarantine to make sure everything is OK ect. so do you have the gravel at the bottom with a mesh substance on top for the drainage layer, or just have it as a substrate usually is?
