That is just the temperature probe wire. Not very bright pictures, but Thor is a very young guy only a month old.

Adorable! How was the repticon?
Thanks sweatshirt! It was a better show than the one I attended a couple of years ago. More vendors and I found just what I was looking for.

Wow! Beautiful King! Congrats!
Thanks everyone! I have decided I just can't be without at least one snake!
Repticon was so cool this year, so many different kinds of beautiful snakes to choose from. However, am limited by space to only small snakes.

Beautiful snake
Happy to report Thor ate his first pinkie yesterday! Didn't take very long either. He's a feisty, fast moving guy.
He almost escaped the terrarium, I was very lucky to catch him sticking little his head out of one of the holes in the top where wires can be run in (its an exo terra) and closed it before he could get out. He also gets behind the styrofoam background where he can't be seen. Not too crazy about that styrofoam thing. He can get back there now, but when he gets bigger, he won't be able to fit. I have hides in the cage, but he seems to like very narrow crevices. Maybe he would like a stack of slate rock in there.
I am using plain topsoil mixed with coco fibre for a substrata - a few chips of repti bark in there but not much. I have half the screen top covered - keeping the humidity at 50%. Hot side in the high 80s and cool side at 65.

Cool! Good news! Glad foiled his escape! Take pics of the setup. I bet he would love a stack of slate rocks to hide under.
Thanks sharthun: When I came home from work, Thor was curled up in his coconut shell hide on the warm side. I handled him for a minute or two. Squirmy and musked me but didn't bite, settled down a little in my hand. Then when I turned him loose, he went back behind the background.
I am not going to handle him often, maybe just once a week.
I am going to look for a few flat slate rocks - I think he would love to get between and under them. My red eft newts would probably like a few pieces of rock as well!

Cool! I handle all my snakes daily. Except 24 hours after feeding. I hook trained my snakes and they all are very easy to handle and are laid back. My mbk(medusa) crawls out onto my hand when I open her enclosure!:)

Showoff - My MBK (Sasha Fierce) is still trying to get away as fast as she can when I open her tank. Doesn't she realize by now that I'm not going to eat her?!

I'm just wondering if she might feel a little insecure with all that real estate. I started medusa out in a 10g. She's now in a 20g. Maybe some more hides? I even noticed that after a put my corn in the 40g that he tries to get away from me sometimes. It may also be that we are approaching them from above.

Yeah, well she better get used to all that real estate because daddy's not buying another tank : ) She's got (4) hides in there and I usually try to scoop her up from underneath. She's definitely getting more comfortable in her viv. She'll be out in the open basking frequently. She's just shy and not a fan of being handled even though she usually calms down after a few minutes. Unlike Caesar who isn't shy at all. I still love her though. I'm gonna put some pics up of her soon I promise. She shed on Monday and ate last night so it'll be a few days.

LOL! They all have different personalities! I think the next enclosures for augustus and medusa will probably be plastic with front access. Unless I find some good deals on 2 more 40g tanks lol. Yeah those pics would be nice! HEHE:D

Steve- Where are you getting your plastic enclosures from? Are they tanks or tubs? I saw some boaphile enclosures that were nice but they were also pretty expensive. I'm still planning on getting that custom built wooden enclosure for Caesar and Sasha next year and I'll move the new snakes into the tanks I have now.

I'm looking closely at Animal Plastics. I like the vision cages but very expensive as well. PM Sent.
