My birthday is coming up next month and my mom and step dad got my an early birthday present. It's a 125 gallon aquarium with a stand for me to use as a snake enclosure. It has a custom glass top to help hold humidity in and 6 holes drilled in the back (about 1"-2") that I'm going to put circle vents in for air flow. My grandpa is going to build me a custom top to hide all the lights and wires on top and my mom is giving me another extra 100$ to spend on whatever else I need or want to put in the tank (plants, new hides, new water dishes, bedding, background, new uth, etc.) I'll keep You guys updated as I start setting it up :)

Happy birthday and remember this when you think mom and sdad are being unfair on whatever.
EDIT:I just noticed something: could the proximity of that lawnmower to the enclosure have any significance? LOL.

My grandpa brought the top over today. All it needs is stained, sealed, and a handle... :)

(probably gunna put a smaller wood bar across the empty space in the back, so I can put heat lamp clamps on to hold the heat lamps above the glass)

Got some more stuff for the tank. I started staining the top and bought a handle for it. My grandpa built me a bottom support to raise the tank a few inches from the stand for a uti. I also started ordering my new equipment. I've ordered a 11X17 uti, a thermostat, and a temp gun. I got the thermostat and temp gun today so I'm just waiting for the uti. I still need to find some vents to order for the holes drilled in the tank then I should have everything. I just need to plug the holes, clean the tank, make a spot in my room, finish staining, and set everything up then he should be ready to go in :)

it is really great to see someone taking the advice of the knowledgeable people on this forum, and who is obviously putting a lot of time, money, and energy into setting up for their new animal.
I wish i would have been as prepared as you when i started getting into herps. Thanks, sincerely :)

Me and my step dad managed to get the tank and it's stand upstares and into the room today. I also went and bought some fancy lookin plugs for the holes, which costed way more than I expected. It was around 50$ for the 6, and I'm still trying to find a way to get screen on the inside. Unfortunately I also accidentally broke one of the glass top pieces.. I put some aquarium sealent on it to help hold it for now, but I'm going to have to get a new piece cut and buffed for it soon.

The nob was predrilled in it already, it broke cause I forgot to close it and had it leaning up against the stand and I accidentally bumped it and it slammed shut pretty hard and cracked..

Yes- that's what I meant. Are you going to move that knob to the frame now or risk one wrong move resulting in a repeat? Just a suggestion from an old man.
You could have the new top made from acrylic. It would be much safer.

Ahhhh- Hard to see that on my phone. If you go back with glass I suggest no hole but use rear view mirror glue.
