I've been looking into adding a snake and have been thoroughly researching carpet pythons and ball pythons but I thought I'd look into all my options. I think the dwarf boas are pretty neat, like the crawl cay and cay caulker, but there aren't any in my area. I did happen to find a breeder with both Hog Island and Nicaraguan boas and I'd love to know a little more about them.

1) What's their general size? I've seen so many different responses I'm not quite sure anymore. I'd get a male no matter what.

2) How do their temperaments vary from one another?

3) Which do you prefer working with, and why?

Any other tips and advice would be wonderful. Thanks in advance! :)

Also found pure Tarahumaras. What are your experiences with them?

I have a caulker s cay boa. Good temper and pretty much same care as other Bci except it grows a bit smaller.

If you want to learn as much as you can get the book "the complete boa constrictor" by Vincent Russo. Or go to riobravoreptiles.com. They touch upon all the different subspecies.

Hog islands get 4-6 ft with some reaching 7 nics get around the same size but are a bit smaller.

Hogs are one of the largest dwarfs

Hogs have way better attitudes then Nics generally speaking too, I have yet met a nic that was trying to rip everyones head off...

I'm liking the tarahumara the most, especially due to the absolute small size but I haven't heard much on their temperament. I figured I'd at least put the nics in the running.
