Hi there I am new to the forums I am hoping to get a red tail boa, and a ball python.

I also am a really big fan of Leporad Geckos and Newts and Salamanders. As well as various froms mostly white tree frogs and Pacman frogs.

I am slightly curious about corn snakes but I have not really heard a ton of good things about them.

lol this might seem like an odd question but I have alway loved keeping little mammals like rats and hamsters. And I am hoping to own things like Sugar Gliders as well as Ferrets, Hedgehogs.

it is possible to own snakes and these yes?? lol I know dumb question.

Watch out guys-I'm in rare forum tonite!

Pet coexistence can't be predicted. I hate it when people think animals are just like us, their not. There are too many instances of natural enemies coexisting in harmony to throw logic or written in stone conclusions about it.

I believe this though:domesticated animals take a lot of clues from our postures and we make them consciously and unconsciously. If you want to try to merge different species into a peaceful coexistence my best advice-be ever vigilant-but confident that they will get along.

And of course be ready to accept the consequences should it fail. But I can tell you I have mixed unnaturally coexisting species many times.

This is terrible advice. Snakes aren't domestic animals so this is even more asinine.

I had rats in my snake room for three weeks. Some of my snakes were constantly hunting while others never even noticed.

I believe you just made my points for me in different words. The word domestic didn't just fall into my post by accident.

The fact that some snakes reacted differently is part of what I was talking about. I wasn't directly referring to rats + snakes, but since the OP expressed interest in so many animals, thought it might be helpful to him.

As far as a direct answer, I might as well say it again (like the OP might have missed it the first few times)-Yes many do to raise as food and/or pets (both of which I've done).

Welcome from a fellow newbie!

If you haven't already, do some research on IBD. This disease affects both Red Tail Boas and Ball Pythons. Since boas can by asymptomatic for a long time, an infected one could kill your ball before you knew anything was wrong.

Some good things about corn snakes: They are (typically) curious and lively, easy keepers, good eaters, docile, GREAT beginner snake, and come in lots of different colors. :)
